Turbo'ing your lancer information

Re: What Turbos are best for CE lancers.

^^^ hahaha your telling me that !! Thats why I've started this thread so people can have some insite in it. Graphs I agree SyKRyD are only a guide but it gives those who might one day afford to go turbo again a bit of idea on what they would like to chase.

Td04 takes different mount on the manifold as to Td05 so also note that.

The t25 t28 take the same mounting? Also is it the same mounting as a td05?

3071 has a smaller cold side then 3076 I'm almost certain.

i was under the impression that the cold side was the same but the hot side was smaller as 3071r uses a t25 flange where as 3076 has t3 flange?

Re: What Turbos are best for CE lancers.

the garretts have heaps of different flanges... most common being t25 flange and t3

Re: What Turbos are best for CE lancers.

So going off turbos mentioned roughly this is the order power wise pending on housing ?

t25
tdo4
tdo5
t28.

Yer the gt30 I read about which i still cant find apparently the manifold could bolt a tdo5 on too I didnt see a pick though hence why I asked the question as I thought most were 3 bolt in garrett

Re: What Turbos are best for CE lancers.

most GT30 framed turbos would be too big for a 93t TBH,

TDO5 16g or t28bb would be my pick out of them all with the usual injectors, computer, intercooler, fuel pump upgrades

Re: What Turbos are best for CE lancers.

Yer guess that would be the next step for myself tdo5 16g or t28. the driven performance crew sell with the kit a 20g but I thought that be bit big for 1.8. But I dont know much with turbz.

Be handy if the tdo5/gt28 fit the same manifold could chop and choose then.

Re: What Turbos are best for CE lancers.

The gt307xR can be set up not to be too laggy. Depends on how well your system has been set up to flow (head ports, intake, manifold, dump, front pipe, exhaust pipe).

But when you're in that sort of power range, a bit of lag doesn't matter. You should be spending most of your time in the 4000-9000rpm range anyways.

Personally, I'd take a T28 over the td05. It uses a t25 flange which is more common with the Garrett turbos allowing for easier upgrade later. Also, try going for the ball bearing version (eg. s15s) as they'll spool a little quicker.

Re: What Turbos are best for CE lancers.

No point reiterating everything here, so +1 to everything lol

Id like to see a tdo3 on a 4g15. Im certain you could be making about 13psi by about 2000rpm. It would nearly be like a supercharger. Instant boost.

Re: What Turbos are best for CE lancers.

Okay so might move on to best intercooler to go with for the ce version.

I know Sam (yet to fit) 91LTI and DVS45 went a evo 4+ intercooler kit of ebay Hybrid I will try find link not sure if there is a few adjustments to be made but its the closest for the CM5A and no doubt the SOHC 93.

Intercooler is a massive one 600x300x65.

*This might be it will check with Sam (there are a few evo kits around with either the wrong picture or wrong piping)
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/HDI-HYBRID-GT-SP ... 483fef37c4

*Otherwise a 550 x180x? will suit the standard ce bar better

Otherwise universal. Agree? any others worth using?..

* Also will need BOV and arranging it to be plumbed back.

Re: What Turbos are best for CE lancers.

Best cheap intercooler is one from justjap! They also sell 45•, 90• and 180• alloy bends and also straight alloy pipe, thy just join then all together with silicone hoses and silicone inducer and reducers.

That would be the best to make a DIY cheap intercooler and piping kit!

Re: What Turbos are best for CE lancers.

I'd say a core size of 600x300x75 or 100 is too large.

Stock Evo or similar size will be More then efficient enough

Re: What Turbos are best for CE lancers.

Yeah, thats the one gaz. piping is wrong, apprently needs 2 changes for the CM5A. But I am yet to have a go at doing it myself.

Re: What Turbos are best for CE lancers.

I can do any piping bends, silicone and clamps.

Ive done a custom 4g93 turbo build and along with that was a custom intercooler setup and an slightly modified evo6 intercooler which mounts the intercooler a bit closer to the radiator support. So for the cold pipe for your setup so I know exactly what you need and can change what ever pipe bends diameter for which ever intercooler you use.
Difference when I do it is I have some of the piping TIG welded and I have a pipe beader to bead the ends of the pipes.
If you dont choose to do that I can supply additional silicone and clamps to keep you out of trouble.
The bends have quite long legs on them so you only ever have to shorten them, not make them longer.
The pipe route and combination will also allow you to have a custom air box behind the headlight which is what I have done on the 4g93 turbo.

An intercooler I would recommend for you is the same one I use on my own car.
It is a 550x180x180x65
It uses 2.5inch end tanks instead of some with 2.25 inlet and outlet.

Ive done testing with aftermarket open element (for alot faster response than closed element ones) IAT sensors mounted on the charge piping after the intercooler and the temps are very similar.
Only for alot more boost will the stock evo intercooler perform better.

Just dont use older style mitsubishi intercoolers like of the lancer gsr, galant vr4 and even the vr4 evo.
Im guessing this may also apply to the cm5a intercooler.
Even though some of them are quite capable and dissipating the heat they do flow quite poorly as far as I know.

Let me know if i can help you with any parts.

Re: What Turbos are best for CE lancers.

Yeah Henry, I will need help with mine. I will be looking at doing it in June, when I get back from America.
