Wheel and Tyre Question/Information Thread

Re: Mitsubishi lancer ce wheels

Cheers. Plenty of time to choose. IMO tiny brakes and big wheels isnt a hot look so will need the bigger stoppers first

Re: Mitsubishi lancer ce wheels

just have the wheels on standby then, because its likely the brake upgrade will be too big to fit inside the stock rims

Re: Mitsubishi lancer ce wheels

Thats what I was thinking. From what I have been reading, the 256?mm upgrade should be fine for the fronts for street use (especially in a rage)

  Successs!!! Someone has finally read something and not posted " what brakes do i get" Well done.

Also, yes the 256mm will be sweet for your rage, go bigger if you want, but for street it will be nice.

Now where is the fun is visualising veins popping out from your head when a typical question like that is raised hey?

Wish I could see more cars of similar make / era where I am. The ones I have seen are all bog stock. Is good to see other members cars photos on the forum and all but nothing like seeing them in the flesh.

As to Reds initial post, have a look on the major tyre dealers websites then go from there. Are you after a stockish type rim or something a bit more flash?

Hey guys I have a question for 16x8 4x100 rims with +25 offset. Would I have to get the tyres stretched? is $950 a reasonable price to pay for them landed ($300 shipping fuarrrrrr). They're deep dish and me likey. They weigh approx 7kg's each aswell.
If (when) I lower my car on coilovers would I have to get the guards rolled and would there be any issues? I'm also under the assumption that they would work with a brake upgrade at the rear and a rotor/caliper upgrade at the front, just needing some reassurance considering the offset. And approximately how much would the tyres for them cost?

You made sure they are 4x100? Just says 4 stud on the ad. And it says 75 pounds postage but in the ad he's got 175 pounds.. hmm
And yea I'm pretty sure they'll be fine with a 276mm upgrade (for example).
I'll leave it to someone else to answer the rest.

Cool. Good choice in rim. Guessing the ad is not the exact set because that's a staggered set with 9's at the rear.

Now as for fitment. You will not be able to just bolt these on. Rolled guards will be required. If you're going for some poke you are going to need stretched tyres. The idea is that the rim sits just outside the guards and the tyre sits inside. Otherwise you'll just destroy your tyres on the guards. If you want them to sit inside the guards for that flush look you'll need some camber - not as much as joshy morris' car at the moment but more than your average car.

Also before buying them tell the seller what car you have, if they throw in wheel nuts in the sale, ones for a vw or audi won't work.

you also should grab a heat gun, which ups the price again...

and its like a 1 off job, for the cost of the roller and heat gun ur getting close to 150-180 all up
so weigh it up

guard roller
heat gun
mallets
different rollers

same price to pay someone else yet they have experience and you dont. sometimes its worth paying someone else to do a job

this is my car atm:

Just wanting peoples opinion on cheap vs expensive tyres?
