Wheel and Tyre Question/Information Thread

Any good wheels which would look good on a cb or lancer in general. Need ideas and suggestions. Don't mind stock rims if they look nice or aftermarket rims.

Oh s***. I was thinking I'd be 100% safe with some x7's +40 and 215's. Forgot about clearance of the struts.. :/

my first set of aftermarket rims were 17x7+40 with 215's and cleared everything at stock height, except on full lock front rubbed on guard liners inside
it looked slightly inset however, so +32 wouldnt be too bad, but i would go more for +35 as you cant fit an 8mm spacer on stock studs comfortably
I fit 5mm slips fine, but in the end better if you dont run spacers unless you absolutly have to

Ugh. Hate to be a pest, but has anyone got a recommendation for replacing the stock size tyres?
Annoyingly I still have plenty of tread, they've just gone hard from age and In this wet I'm under-steering at like 30 kph...

If on the stock rims replace with the same size tyres.

If you want an upgrade, get wider rims and fit tyres accordingly.

Was talking more in terms of brand and model for quality and what not, searching the net gives some very mixed responses about pretty much everything. I might just buy some CC5's cause they don't seem comparatively too costly

Looking at getting a set of 17 x 7 Enkei RPF1 running 205/40 for a CE coupe. Offset choices are +30, +35 and +43. Which offset is recommended? Not looking for flushness or anything like that. Just want maximum clearance for no scrubbing. Car is lowered on BC Coilovers.

+43 is your safest bet but I would go for +35 for two reasons. Better fitment, and better resale specs. If you aren't stupid low they won't scrub. If you are stupid low, rolled guards and you'll be fine.

Honestly. Go the +30 and roll the guards. Costs stuff all and if you ever wanted to sell it onto a PPlater they will be all "Awwww siq dat fitment broooooooo take mi monies"

Ok so getting 2 new tyres tomorrow (ones pretty low + bubbled).

Size is 205/45 16" and I need something that will last a fair while (would love some RE002's(3's?) etc. but tend to drive around 1,500kms a week plus interstate regularly).

Just browsing and looking atm to see whats out there and on sale, anyone recommend a long-lasting, relatively grippy, and cheapish ($165 absolute max) tyre?

Edit: Ended up getting a pair of Kuhmo KU39's for $140/e fitted with a balance of the other two as well. Probably could have gone cheaper or longer lasting but loving the grip - as long as they last 40-50k kms I'm happy.

would work on coils but not springs as the springs are too wide.

would need a 17x7 +35ish with a 205

What kind of clearance would I have with coils and this offset/tire sizes? I'm asking as I've found a set of wheels I really like, just they're 17 x 7.5 + 41. I'd want 215 width tires on these and I'm on BC coils. Wanting to make sure they'll not hit on anything before I commit to buying them.

coil will give you plenty of room and with 17's you have more space to avoid the rear trailing arm. those specs should fit but i'd recommend test fitting first because +41 is a very strange offset. will fit with 215's at the front no worries if you roll the guards, the rear you should be able to fit with a good guard roll and pump and a little bit of camber

Test fitting will be difficult seeing the wheels are in japan. Haha. I'm just worried about inside clearance when turning etc. I want to make sure I won't be banging/rubbing on anything. Outside guard work doesn't really bother me.
