Wheel and Tyre Question/Information Thread

Interested to see these reviews on the 276 vs 294. Can't say I have seen any

the bigger rotor and greater distance means you get a bit extra torque. by engineering calculations you'll get about 5-6% harder braking with the 294's

Ah. I haven't had 276 on my car but have been I cars with them, prefer how the 294 pull up. Paul very much enjoyed the fact they lifted his butt off the seat

To be fair I think the 276mm with decent pads should pull up the car just as well, the bigger issue would be if the smaller brakes would fade quicker?

While on topic, I am looking for 15" 5X114.3 wheels and they seem to be somewhat rare.
Any advice on where to look and brand of wheels?

lol brake fade is not an issue with quality parts. beat on it hard at wakefield and brakes were strong for the whole 15 minute sessions, never experienced fade.

buddyclub p1's are 15" and 5x114.3. had a set and they're super hard to sell cause no one wants 15" 5 stud wheels haha

Yes I kind of gathered that since I haven't been able to find any 5 stud 15" wheels.
At this stage 15" Rota wheels are around the $500 mark, and the Buddy Club P1s are $900.

My main reason for wanting to go 5 stud is for wider rotor selection + not needing to redrill to 4X100 + get hubcentric rings. I know the Mini rotors fit but I don't like they idea that their starting thickness is less than the minimum thickness Mitsubishi recommends

just redrill, i used redrilled rotors when 4x100 no problemo. need the hubcentric rings though but hens can hook you up with those.
no point going 5 stud if you don't need too.

Would 17x7 +20 wheels fit my standard height CE Sedan without scrubbing?

No intention to lower at all. Have trouble negotiating own driveway already.

The lowering is what aids the fitment (with adjustable coils) did you decide what brake set up you wanted?

Hrrm mexiflush ey? The wheels are coming from a MX5. Aftermarket ones.

Still undecided on the brake upgrade yet. I feel it's an expensive path to take in upgrading rotors and calipers whilst also having to change wheels at the same time.

For what it is and for my daily purposes, I feel I can get away with some better pass and perhaps changing over the std rotors to same size slotted ones I've seen ok eBay.

Have 200k km major service coming up. Will first sort out the lowish treads on the front tyres.

Will it be ok to swap fronts to the rear. Since the rears look almost brand new tread depth wise? Fronts are def lower in tread in comparison.

Better pads would be something like EBC red stuff, easily around $200 a set. Slotted rotors (which won't help braking, only cooling) would be $100-150. That's already twice as expensive as a 256mm brake upgrade and still $100 more than a 276mm brake upgrade.

Will this work?

17x8 +28 on King Spring SuperLow CE Lancer. with 195's or 205's?

My guards are fully rolled but we'll say they aren't because I may get an MR later on which most likely won't have guard work...

Alright cool. I'm gonna need wheels before coils so...

What about 17x7.5 +40 with 215's??

would work on coils but not springs as the springs are too wide.

would need a 17x7 +35ish with a 205

Oh *poo*. I was thinking I'd be 100% safe with some x7's +40 and 215's. Forgot about clearance of the struts.. :/
