Question - how many spray cans do I need to paint my wheels?

i did two tone blue and black and scrapped in with two bigger sized cans of black and needed three normal sized of the blue because it was metallic and needed to be layered a bit more
then remember you need a filler primer if there are scratches on the rims that you want to fix up or just a primer if they are in good condition

Thanks,

The VHT paint I'm thinking of using is only 11oz, so just over 300g, so small. Might get 4 cans to be sure, I can always color match something

I'll do a full check before getting the primer, to get the right one. And I guess 2 cans of clear to finish it off.

That'll come up a treat :)

Okay I have a relatively new Kenwood head unit, bought at the start of the year.
Works great and since it was to replace an older Kenwood it slotted right in with the same plug.

Only problem is the BlueTooth audio, the phone works good but when I switch BT Audio to get music from my iPhone sound only comes out the front speakers. I checked the F-R fade and it's fine, when I go back to radio or plug in the USB lead the sound comes out all the speakers.

Are Evo 7/8/9 Front brakes the same? Are they all 324mm?

Evo 7/8/9 with Brembos are all the same, 320x32mm 4 pot calipers.
They are also the same as Evo 5/6 Brembos in terms of overall system, however they redesigned the caliper between 6/7.

The later ones dont have R clips, on the caliper pins, they use pins with a spring collar on the end. And they uses different shims.

Cheers, hopefully 5/6 calipers are cheaper than 7/8/9... Now the question is which car gets em.

Engine should weigh about 150-200kgs give or take. Auto trans are heavier than manual, manual is probs about 50kgs and auto maybe... 70?

Just wondering what is the best way to store an engine?

Not sure how long just yet, might be months.

I guess draining the oil is a good start but what about covering it, some shrink wrap?
Should I oil/grease anything?
Cover all the openings?

It will be just the engine, not GB but it will include the exhaust manifold.

I have a tire for it to sit on.

If you leave the IM and TB on, then you shouldn't need to wrap it. Crank it from time to time so prevent rings/cylinder walls rusting over. it's usually beneficial to drain oil before remove engine since you take it out an angle blah blah blah. Cover all openings (eg. exhaust ports, coolant intake/output, TB) with stuffed rags or you can wrap them w/e. Store on a rubber tyre to prevent damaging sump/AC condensor OR engine stand.

Source: Been storing an engine for a long time now.

Thanks, good to know I was on the right track.

Still not sure if I'll slot it in the CC yet or just sell it but either way it's out of the M21 next week with any luck.

As skippy said, however if it were me, ill fill up the engine with plenty of oil (as in a bit extra than normal), in order to stop rust forming. Just as if you were to leave a car sitting for a while, fill up the gas tank to the brim to stop/prevent rust forming.

Thanks for the advice but the engine is out, I drained the oil when it was on the hoist as it was easier than climbing under the car.
I've taped up all openings to help stop unwanted guests setting up home inside, and its currently on an old tire under a bench in the garage.

I plan for the M21 to be striped and gone before Christmas, depending on work.

Speaking of DIY jobs the first/next thing I want to tackle is powering up the windows. is there anyone in the Sunshine coast area who can help?
I'm fine with putting in the hardware but might need help finding suitable power to get it all working... maybe I should crash Rigby's engine install party

Ain't gonna be any free hands/time during my engine swap for anything apart from engine out/in. Take the wiring and mechs to an auto elec, walk away, come back in 2 days and drive away.
