Official too lazy to search, noob friendly thread.

Okay well a couple of things.

I'm looking at getting some better globes for my headlights (and parkers) The white type that were ADR approved.

Also I'm looking at getting some DRLs, I'm tossing up between regular ones like those listed below. Or Angel-Eye type with a separate fog light in the centre. only think is they are hard to find, apart from on eBay.

FYI AutoBarn has some good DRLs for $50, normally $75. They come with an auto relay so when wired correctly will turn on when you start the car and off with you headlights, to be legal.

as far as globes do as u please all 55w halogen bulbs are much of a muchness with visability

as for DRL's 50$ they would want to be fu cking amazing... srs, they look like cheap shi-t from ebay, get somone to power them at one end of the store then walk youself as far away as possible, you should be able to see them quite bright from 100+meters away if they look at all dull they are not even worth 20$

proper DRL's might set you back 90$ or so but will actually work well and look better than dull cheapies

they seem okay says it 10watt overall, so 10/16 = wattage per led, i would want about 1w or 1.5w per led anything under from my experience has been a bit dul at over 10m

I've been looking for the right relay so they come on automatically, most of the cheap DRLs don't include any relay.

I do wonder is I can use my current fog lights as DRLs with the right relay as most of the DRLs listed are also called fog lights.

And on that are these any good? Thought they might go good in the 'fog light' space below the headlight in my standard early CC Coupe bumper.
Once I cut out a round hole in the middle.

You can buy universal DRL looms from ebay for like 20$ or less, they are pretty straight forward to install usually no cutting or splicing just connecting. I would look at one of those for a trouble free install

I was considering that but I'm a little cautious buying anything 'cheap' on eBay that is electrical for your car. On the other hand I've been told it can cost $100 or more to by them locally, when you actually speak to someone that knows what they are doing.

i have bought 100's of cheap electrical stuff off ebay and had near on zero troubles over the years, and you do know that most places that supply these types of electricals would be buying them from similar places in china and them marking up 1000%
but each to their own, you just gotta know what ur buying

yeah same had heaps of t10 t5 and other globes and electronics and never had any issues, i dont know how other people do have issues

I've bought lost from eBay, mostly good experiences but some bad, including computer parts and a good semi SLR Kodak camera I've had for about 5 years.
Yes I know a lot of the electronics we get here in retail stores comes out of Chinese factories then marked up to stupid levels.

A good example are those Philips DRLs, at Auto One I was quotes about $350 and just found them on eBay for $110 including shipping from the UK. And they wonder why local shops are loosing out to online?

FYI I'd rather pay $110 for a name brand I know that will work than $20 for cheap ones.

Why are my cluster SMD LEDs burning out?

The two T10s and the T5 SMD LEDs on the left side of the cluster have burnt out, this has happened with multiple sets of SMD LEDs. The first one generally goes within about 30 minutes, the next follows a day or two later. The two T10s on the right are working fine and are no issues.

It's pretty hard to burn out a led unless you place it directly onto a 12v supply without protection of some sort such as a resistor. Maybe if it "burns out" again take out the bulbs and play around with the legs if they come out of the housing then that is your problem, a *poo*ty solder joint, because the leg is so fine they use a tiny amount of solder to connect it to the board so when you put them in your dash you have to be careful not to break the legs.

I've had a look but can't find a DIY for painting side mirrors.

I have all the paint supplies including the primer and clear top coat and know how to take them off but I'm not sure about taking them apart. Yes I know there are several screws underneath, but I was wondering how hard it is to pop of the glass and is it worth doing that.

I'm planing to paint just the part that moves, not the 'arm' that attaches to the door of the car.

Any advice would be good.

Youtube isn't much help when it comes to specifics for the CC coupe.

Never mind, I got them off and mostly apart. Painted the undercoat.

Okay painted my mirrors and the look good :)

NEW Topic/challenge - door courtesy lights for the CC coupe.

I have some LEDs and would like to fit them to the lower edge of my doors to allow better lighting at night. Now I know it would be a simple to wire it to the dome light, so when it's on the door lights are on but is it possible to have them light up independently though the same switch?

This is cool, must have them!

My next DIY job :)

Which Boss kit's fit CE's? I've got a Momo one currently but i'm probably getting a Work Bell to fit my new wheel. I know Lancer, mirage and fto are the same, i'm fairly certain galant and legnum boss kits work, and i'm not sure about evo's?
Thanks guys
