What do people think of the forum banner?

Well we've had the forum banner for a year now and what I was wanting know is if people like it or not?

One idea I've been thinking of doing for a while is having a rotating banner, ie. each time you load the page it selects a banner at random for say 10 different ones...

I'm just thinking that maybe it's time for some change and a new look!
 
i like it but maybe it is time for a change, how about we do a competiton every month for a car on the banner?? couple of forums im on do that sorta stuff

As in a members car? Sounds interesting.


But if you do change the banner, keep the simplicity look - best bit about the current one.
 
Hmmm, well only problem with that is I am unable to do the creation of the banners, I simply haven't used Photoshop enough. I did want to try keep the banner looking well constructed and 'professional' and not something which has just been slapped together hap-hazzardly. I also want to stick with the following requirements for any new banner:
*Must have AusLancer.com in it and be the Sofachrome font
*Needs to have a picture of atleast one well presented Lancer
*Some reference to Australia, ie. flag, southern cross, etc...
*Needs to fit with the blue and white theme of this forum's style template
*Needs to be a PNG file with transperancies and the same dimensions (pixel count) as the current banner

Maybe something like a car of the month writeup/feature on the Portal page could be an option instead? Or does no-one ever use the portal page?
 
Nah, the only time I ever go on the portal page is if I accidentally click that instead of Board Index.
 
As a tip, you know clicking on the forum banner image will take you to the Board Index...much easier than clicking on the little board index link!!

I'll have to have a think about how I could implement a car of the month display....
 
yeah portal page is prob more for the new comers, but car of the month idea sounds cool
 
banner sucks, lol












maybe a pic of each modle of lancer in the same style as the cuurent pic

If you can give me the dimensions for the banner and the auslaner logo. I can whip something up. (meaning I will spend alot time on it, and give the banner a professional look.
 
I'll upload the PSD file of the original banner tonight for you Sam!

yeah man only members cars like make a thread where we can vote which car we think deserves to be on the banner obviously im out but maybe even change it every 3 months??
 
I was going to offer to do this for you but that's all good! I like the idea of members cars :)

I'll give this a go too. I liked the idea of rotating banners.
 
You can do one too if you want Charlotte, looks like I'll go for a rotating banner system so no reason why we cant rotate through numerous banners from all different people!

Aaron I think looking at making a showcase for a member's car of the month might be easier and better in the fact that you'll be able to show off multiple photos of the car,etc. I also feel that the banner is sort of a representation of the club as a whole, and am hesitant to just restrict it to one member's car....
 
maybe car of the month comp can be done in the forums under premiums members
 
Charlotte and react give it a go! Like Ryan said we can have them rotating like everytime the page loads a new banner is loaded.

I'll work on it tonight, if you can get me everything.
 
Ok cool,

I've done these so far, keeping it a subtle change. I hope you don't mind me using your photos 12shw, Ryan and Mafias, just was looking for member ones :) Not enough events in WA lol.

And just a thought, we could have different features of members cars instead of their whole cars all the time
