Clear way for my CAI Piping to go :)

yarp, are u going to pipe the pod down or pipe a feed up to it?

i suggest piping it down with that pod, if u put a feed to it it would still suck 99% hot air

Is it possible to run piping down to the left of the battery (left when looking at it from the front)? IDK bout the 1.5's but there should be more room that way no?

yeh there is room, but u would need to secure it more, the hole on the right side holds it in place well, u can go either way

I must be one of the few people here who prefer the box, using a K&N type panel filter, but getting decent flow.

Of your choices, putting the filter near the road will mean it will need cleaning often, put it somewhere you can access easily. It will also mean it gets very wet, so maybe look into a water shield.

Boxing up your pod in-situ and piping down may be a better option, but you lose the pod-look.

Either way, both are better than sucking in hot air as discussed above.

my 2c

my pod is exposed 125mm from the road no weather shields. Still doesn't need cleaning and hardly gets wet. i guess it just depends on the area the splash from the wheels affects

well, I hope all people are so lucky...

But a clogged filter just means really bad fuel economy...

yes resuliac i am going to pipe the pod to just deciding wether to use black flexi cable or pvc piping. my bro has the pod setup in his car and he is using the pod piped down and his pod stays cold. atm my pod sits in my engine bay and it sucks hot air so my pod gets warm and my performance is horrible. but once i get my pod piped down then im all good :)

been driving it a few times a week lately...

sort of skippy the problem is my pod isnt getting any cold air and once i get it all piped down to the bar. then it wont shudder like it is now :)

but there was a small gap to where my maf and my pod connected i fixed that and its not as bad. but yeh just gotta get the piping going and will update when have installed followed by pictures. :)

it's not the cold vs hot air doing it then. If it improved once you did fix the gap, it means there is a vac leak. Have you got a gasket between the maf and the adaptor plate? And have you double checked all hose connections? Because if it didn't shudder before, but does now, it's not the pod's fault, it'd be a leak.

when i removed the pannel filter there was a black plastic type of thing was that the gasket because i removed that so i could put my adapter plate on. could this be the problem??

tbh, it could, usually metal on plastic won't form a "seal" to prevent airloss. But even then I'm not totally sure since it is before the maf so if there was a leak it'd just be drawing in unfiltered air instead. I mean the best way to check if it's the pod (only if you think it is), is to reinstall your box, if there shuddering continues then there could be a few things that I can think of: a) hoses and connections AFTER the maf, so inbetween the maf and tb/plenum b) ecu hasn't fully reset it's self but from my own experiance I doubt this (when i trialed my pod I didn't let it idle long enough and it would idle quite high until a bit of driving was done. or c) another un-related issue completely seperate from the pod has come up.

ah yes skippy thats wat i tested before i put my pod in lol it definately sounds like its just not forming the seal properly. because with stock airbox no shuttering/jerking or w/e you want to call it lol. :p anywayz skippy its been a long day as i spammed everyone today on mini chat bout how i should set it all up and yeh but i appreciate your input :)

lol no problem, I'm sure a lot of people are happy to help whether its in the chat or in a thread. Let us know how it goes mate

if its between the pod and MAF it wont be a problem, its when the leak is betwen the maf and your TB that it will cause shutters, so that should narrow your search

ah ok mdclear,

yes the piece of plastic i removed was between the maf and pod. maybe i should get a mechanic to check it out just to be sure.
