How's the website running of late for you all?

The other week I modified some TCP buffers and settings based on a recommendation I came across. This seemed to help speed up the page loads and reduce the noticeability of the AUS<->US latency of the site.

Tonight I enabled GZIP compression and it seems to have speed things up even more. What this means is the server will now compress all HTML, PHP, CSS and JScript files before it sends the page to you, reducing the time it takes for your browser to download the website. The upside is the server uses less bandwidth (essentially server speak for what you call a quota on your internet plan).

So has anyone noticed the server running quicker (or slower) as of late?

i havnt noticed any diff
and my nets super slow, so i can usually spot the slightest increase/decrease
but it works, so im not complaining ;)

I've got cable extreme, so I haven't really noticed any difference. Sorry.

But all the changes sound good. Keep it up :)

lol, at all your hard work, and nobody notising, but good work

Any gains that I have made in speed of loading will run into the milliseconds. You aren't likely to notice them unless you have a fast pc and internet connection (I know my i7 desktop can render pages much mopre quickly on my network connection than say my gf's Athalon X2 laptop can....)

Is that a regular occurrence or just a once off??
haha it has happened a couple of times, but I'm pretty sure its due to *poo*ty internet connection! I try to do several things at once and it usually freaks out and everything stops working :problem:
I just thought it was funny!

Hmmmm yeah sometimes I have noticed an issue where the mini-chat won't refresh but it's never bombed out my browser. It possibly is partly due to your computer or internet connection....

yeah I reckon so. I like that the pop up says "kill pages" though! made me laugh instead of being annoyed that it had frozen!

Actually it was me overlooking something when I solved the .htacess Apache config issue earlier in the week.

Should be solved now and going to the right page! :)

ok, im not sure if this is relevant to this thread...
but what evs :p i cant remember the name of the other thread

but iv come across 2 problems of late (might just be me, but who knows)
