extractors

i would go for the same as trgy in the post before you, or are the CVT engine different?

Extractors suck. What you should go for is a decent manifold and dump pipe. Oh, and it generally goes better if a turbo is bolted on too. Lol. *cheek*

I have a 4B12 CVT. I fitted the same headers as Tryg. They are 4-2-1 from Super-circuit. They fit any of the 4B engines. They have I believe 50mm pipes going in to a 65mm outlet.

I believe I am the only person in Australia who fully dyno tested their car before and after the headers and then after the exhaust. I found about 10% mid range power improvements and AFR's lowered from about 10-1 to 11-1 with just the headers alone. This is where the power improved and better fuel economy.

I found good improvements after fitting a 2.5" SS mandrel bent exhaust too.

After looking at the complete exhaust system I would fit the headers first as they good improvement. I dont believe much would be gained from fitting exhaust alone without the headers.

There is an Australian supplier for the Super circuit headers. "Lancer Speed Works". The contact is Sam Lentini. He is a really nice guy and you will find him really helpful. He imports the headers because he likes the CJ lancer and they are the best on the market. He also keeps the price low as possible. There are headers for almost twice the price of these and they are not as good. Trust me when I say I have looked at all the headers available for CJ Lancers and these are the best available and the cheapest.

Damn.. are you running a turbo computer?

Get that s*** tuned man.

Unfortunately that is the stock tune for our 4B12 engines. The 4B11 are a little leaner but not much. Mitsubishi run rich to meet fuel emmissions and to play safe as they do not wont to run the cars to lean. Different conditions will affect your AFR's.

Mine started at 10-1. After header they went to 11-1, after exhaust 12-1.

Yes now it is tuned and running at 13.5-1 with a nice flat graph, unlike before.

Cruiser is right, not much data out there with true before/after... I only did an after, but based upon a stock vehicle dyno and what I get now, it's also very much in the same region as Troy (Cruiser).

I also have a 2.5" mandrel bent mild-steel mid pipe, hi-flo catalytic and a twin SS sports axle-back as I suggested earlier.

I would second his comments and suggest there is only one way to do things, properly! Just bite the bullet and do everything from extractors back!

Don't force yourself to buy at $800, when for $430-ish, you can have the very best of headers from OS. Not just for the CJ, but other companies sell them for around this price, you just have to find the best source and wait!

I cannot fault these Super-Circuit (didn't want to mention names Troy, because he is over there.. not here!!).

Doesn't anyone know how to use google anymore? The very FIRST result when you search for 4B12 headers: http://www.roadracemotorsports.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=289

Also the *poo*test headers out there. I have the "V1" headers and the flex joint packed it in and cost me $300 to be redone, etc. So there V2 they simply removed the flex joint. I would NOT go anywhere near RRM again. Same story with their crank pulleys, took them two versions to get it right...seriously where the hell is R&D????

On the other hand Sam does seem to be bringing in a very good set of headers at a good price, I would have no hesitations recommending him (he put in a good amount of research before deciding to get the Super Circuit headers) and in fact I am considering swapping mine for a set of his down the track!

That bad really? Did you ask them to replace it? I was reading up on something about RRM working with Suzuki in designing a factory turbo system for the new swifts. Thought they must have had at least a bit of credibility if they're doing that, obviously they haven't done enough testing.

They were being a hassle and wanted me to also post the rooted ones back. Once I added up the cost of posting them back over there and the fact i may never even get a replacement back from them I decided to just get them repaired properly here...

Not wanting to create "extractors noob" topic i figured id tag along the end of this semi old topic.

I have a Ce Wagon, and and interested in doing a few things like exhaust over etc over the next few years, just wondering how most people actually installed there extractors. i found this on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... K:MEWAX:IT

And pretty interested, but wondering is it a beach to fit up with the cat. pipe etc. Lots of welding, just welding little flanges... I know i dont have a hectic high flow cat and cannon/straightrough n watnot but i figured i would start from the front then work back as i can afford.

what are peoples thoughts on the RPW 4-1 extractors?? iv got them currently in my car and am happy with the result and as a mate is looking to upgrade his 4g15 as well i figured it would be better to get a larger opinion on them and not base his decision on what i think.

mmmm 4g15 extractors = win (for a 1.5l) they give a noticable increase in acceleration speed (more free reving) and give a lot longer and stronger power band into the high revs
well worth it even if the rest of the zorst is stock u will feel decent gains that are worth the $400 price tag

if ur not lookign at converting or anything drastic and u think u will keep ur 4g15 in it for a while they should be at the top of ur list for cheap power
