Engine conversion

Where are you located?
I'm trying to sell my 1.8. If you are on your P's any other engine is illegal.
You could put 4G93 (1.8L) 4G94 (2L) 4G93t (1.8L turbo) 4G63t (2L turbo, evo engine)

4G92 (1.6 Mivec), 4G69 (2.4L), 6A12 (FTO 2.0L), 6A13TT (Legnum/Galant 2.5L Twin Turbo)

if you want a 4G63T engine, easiest way is find a EVO 4/5/6/6.5 halfcut and swap everything...

If you just want an engine then you can get EVO4/5/6/6.5/7/8/9

lol yeh there are alot of engines that will go in, finding the one u want for the right price is hard tho

if ur located in qld i would be looking at james deans front cut he mentioned ^^^^ cheap as chips and has everythign u will need to do the conversion
even tho going from a 1.5 --> 1.8L doesnt sound like much better power it is, the 1.8L engines have a better head and flow nicer and have plenty more performance parts out there for them

failing that look out for a 4g94 engine (2.0L) they are fairly cheap (in comparison to other conversions) and they are pulled out of newer lancers maybe 2003 lancers so they are quite easy to find if u look long enuf

they are ur most realistic options, if u have $6,000++ then sure go an evo engine or an fto 6a12, but really i think you'll be looking at a 4g93/4 which will give u plenty of power for street with loads of room to upgrade performance with bolt ons in future

i think the rad is, dunno about aircon but i would assume that is too

Go for the 6A12 conversion. I converted my 99 CE for under $2500.00 including the half cut. Easy conversion. Everything bolts up. Great power booster without having to go to the turbo option. And here in NSW the conversion can be done without engineers cert. Well under $6000.00++

Really? I thought without a cert it can be defectable because the cops can go "that's unsafe" or w/e since it is in the end a more powerful engine in a car "designed" for a 4cyl 1.8L at most.

since when??? bahahaha.. N.S.W and VIC have the most strict rules and QLD follow after that...

Any engine conversion, which isnt put in the car by the manufacturer as an Australian Delivery needs a mod plate.

When I contacted the RTA regarding the conversion they informed me that as long as it doesn't exceed the engine capacity of the same model it doesn't require a cert. I told them it is a 2.0ltr v6 and the response was as long it is not over two litres and the engine is from the same manufacture and meets the ADR's.
So I obtained a blue slip for the engine number change (which the dealership rang the RTA about), went to the RTA with drivers license, proof of purchase of engine and the blue slip, they changed the numbers, told me the conversion met the standards of the regulations set down, which is capacity only not cylinders.
Of course i left without making further enquirys. If the RTA said it was a legal conversion, whom am I to question their greater wisdom and intelligence? Been going for over twelve months now and the local constabulary don't have a problem with it either.

full conversion inc halfcut for around $2500, damn i wish i had the knowledge and what not to do it my self, id do it in a heart beat, but without knowledge i has to save up that extra few $K :(

Not really, my mate just threw the 6A12 quad cam 2ltre out of a HJ Galant in his CC Coupe and didnt even need to get engineered :) his car was a 1.5 to start off with, but they also came out with the 1.8 sohc.. and he was allowed to legally upgrade his engine capacity by 15% without an engineers cert

Ive enquired about a mirage with a 6A12 FTO engine but they said because the Mirage didnt come out as a 1.8 they will need a cert... but a ce lancer you wont need 1

yup that'd be great for a conversion, but then you;d hav an auto or you'd hav to track down a manual box.

everything you;d need is there. radiator/engine mounts/engine/loom/dash cluster/maybe climate control if your lucky

aparently its hard to track down maual gearboxes for 6a12 anyone kno if other gear boxes fit on?

so i wont be able to use the gearbox from a manual 4g93 with the 6a12?
i think i might do some more research into this, because its sounding more "attainable" even for someone like me
(that ebay link has full dash, but rad sold)
cheers guys

apparently all the 4g boxes line up with almost any 4g motor? thats what ive heard,

whilst on topic of engine conversions, all i wana know is, does the 63t bolt straight in, what gearbox have people used for it, and is it as easy as loom out loom in start your engines..? i cant find *poo* on this conversion and i wana know if anything needs custom work or ill do this myself at home :)
