Hey all. this is just a diy on how i got this:
to this:
So. for starters you need these things.
Meguairs ultimate compound (or similar - i found this works really really well) - about 30 bucks from sca - (will be calling it MUC through this DIY - lazy )
foam applicator pads - 5 bucks
microfiber cloths/pads (pads are 5 bucks from sca)
ALSO, if you dont have car wax lying around like i did, youll need to get some.
so all up about 40 bucks.
first thing you need to do, is to ensure that the area youre going to attempt to fix is clean, so wash it and then make sure it is complately dry. you dont have to be anal about how clean it is, just make sure its not hideously dirty, like this:
ok?
cool. now, get your foam applicator pad, shake the bottle of MUC well and apply a bit to the foam applicator pad. i found about the size of a 20c piece worked well and didnt run everywhere.
now rub the compound into the paintwork. not so hard that youll put a hole in your car, but with a bit of pressure, in circular motions until the whole thing is looking dull all over, then keep buffing.
now wipe off the compound with your microfiber and inspect. if it isnt up to your standard, go over it again. NOTE: it will not be 100% perfect!
you should end up with something like this.
after you have finished and wiped everything off and its looking nice and shiny again: go over the spot you fixed with some wax. this is imperitive to the durability of the new surface and will ensure that the spot doesnt fade again for a much longer period of time. you must do this straight after the fix with the MUC because that is when the surface is most vulnerable and if you wax later then it may not have any effect of longetivity.
i used a final polish on mine and i ended up with this. GOOD AS NEW
