So. for starters you need these things.
Meguairs ultimate compound (or similar - i found this works really really well) - about 30 bucks from sca - (will be calling it MUC through this DIY - lazy :p)
foam applicator pads - 5 bucks
microfiber cloths/pads (pads are 5 bucks from sca)

ALSO, if you dont have car wax lying around like i did, youll need to get some.

so all up about 40 bucks.

first thing you need to do, is to ensure that the area youre going to attempt to fix is clean, so wash it and then make sure it is complately dry. you dont have to be anal about how clean it is, just make sure its not hideously dirty, like this:

ok?

cool. now, get your foam applicator pad, shake the bottle of MUC well and apply a bit to the foam applicator pad. i found about the size of a 20c piece worked well and didnt run everywhere.

now rub the compound into the paintwork. not so hard that youll put a hole in your car, but with a bit of pressure, in circular motions until the whole thing is looking dull all over, then keep buffing.

now wipe off the compound with your microfiber and inspect. if it isnt up to your standard, go over it again. NOTE: it will not be 100% perfect!
you should end up with something like this.

after you have finished and wiped everything off and its looking nice and shiny again: go over the spot you fixed with some wax. this is imperitive to the durability of the new surface and will ensure that the spot doesnt fade again for a much longer period of time. you must do this straight after the fix with the MUC because that is when the surface is most vulnerable and if you wax later then it may not have any effect of longetivity.
i used a final polish on mine and i ended up with this. GOOD AS NEW

Red has to be the worst colour for fading.

it seems to be fine when you have it resprayed and painted properly.. my bonnet and front left 1/4 dont have fade at all where the rest of the car DID

Any new coat of paint is going to look better and last longer than the factory paint if done professionally :p

this is gonna sound silly, but meh :p

on my black trim on my car (like roof strips, plastic thing under my wipers,)
i use tyre shine on them and it comes up fantastic and lasts a few weeks lookin like new

oooh thanks for that, I have those annoying plastic faded bits so annoying will try this :)

also give Mothers Back to Black a shot you will need to do several applications but it does come up like new very good product.

red cars a crap to work with when it comes to detailing - Red paint oxidises it has a faster rate of break down than any other colour Yellow in the next colour to break down. The thing is with cars that are painted red are not clear coated because of this reason as the paint under the clear will still be dull so they do not clear and allow the owner to polish off the oxidisation to bring the red back to life... unfortunately there are still a few manufacutures and spray painters that do use clear or a single base coat type paint to paint red cars which is very thin - the correct paint for Red cars is true 2 Part paint which does not use a clear coat.

I absolutely hate polishing red cars I have gotten to the point were I will turnn work away because of the colour.

Seen Trents red in the flesh. I was a little shocked at how ridiculously clean it is :O

Also interested in how you achieved that!

I was thinking about getting a professional cut and polish but I can't afford it at the moment. So I think ill do a polish myself. I've never done it though. I seem at SCA you can get all different types like polish, cutting compound, and a few different ones.

I have a few scuffs I want to polish out. What products would I need ? I assume a cutting cream? But do I need to use a cutting one the. A polish or something??? I have no idea

Legend. Cheers bro ill have to watch them and them go shopping sometime this week. I have a clay bar but I don't know why cause I don't know what it's for but I'm sure the video will tell me =]
