want to go faster

My mate and I have a 95 lancer and we have stripped the whole interior and have just put a racing seat in it. I took it down the quarter mile the other weekend and on my first run i ran 19.70 @ 67mph. After about half a dozen runs and getting used to the car i ran a 18.4 @ 72mph. It has the standard 1.5litre and manual gearbox carbie and exhaust is stock and rolled on 17inch rims. I want to be able to go quicker but don't have a big bank balance and i would like to know what engine mods could i do without breaking the engine?

Cheers

Dave

No offence, but the search tool in the top right of the page does help... In short, bar swapping your engine out, your not gonna get massive pulls without turboing it etc... if you don't want to break your engine, exhaust, tb, intake, lightweight pulleys...

1st drop to 14in or 15in wheels, 17in will be to heavy.
2nd Install CAI + Hiflow filter, can be done DIY for under 200 bucks.
3rd Extractors and exhaust. about 600 bucks
4th if its not a road legal car which im guessing if your stripped the interior than strip more (headlights, taillights, swap to fibreglass bonnet, remove A/C)
5th DOHC head, you can find one cheap.
6th Light weight underdrive pully 100 bucks maybe
7th Larger thottal body

theres a good start

Its a CC 1.5, which means its a Carby engine

so #2, #5, #6, #7 is out

I would suggest to find a twin carb setup :) theres not much things you can do with the 1.5 carby though

My best advices are

1 - Sell the GL and buy yourself a GLXi, they have a 1.8 EFI engine in it
2 - Find a GLXi wreck and throw everything out of that into your car
3 - Find a Proton Satria/m21/persona/wira and swap everything out of that into your car

You can pick up wrecks for under $500

Only mod ive ever seen done to the 1.5 was this and still didnt make much power or go down the strip quicker

Find a 4g93p dohc from a proton gti and convert it to efi it'll cost a bit but being a cc instead of a ce it'll be cheaper than the options we have :)

What do you call "big bank balance". A budget helps if its 1/5th of you know what.

Then dont bother.

You talkin about the champagne 1 with full kit with 649IDN plates?? lol

yeah smashed ya, lol

best way you can go is to bin the carby
