In light of me receiving another letter recently about the airbags in my CH, I thought it was time there was a tidy thread for people to find information on their cars. NB; this applies to all Australian models. For anyone concerned, this information can be found on the Recall Website
Currently there are 4 recalls open on the CG/CH model;
Defect/s: "The incorrect brake pedal was fitted to affected vehicles during production"
Affects: "Lancer VR-X (Sedan): Between JMFSNCS7A6U000201 and JMFSRCS7A6U002394. Lancer VR-X (Wagon): Between JMFLNCS7W6U000202 and JMFLRCS7W6U000652"
Action Required: Notification via Letter, or if you have come across this, and your vehicle is in the affected range, contact Mistubishi immediately.
Extra Info: "In the worst case if a brake circuit failure occurs the pedal travel required may be impeded due to interference with an adjacent component. This would prevent the pedal from reaching full stroke and achieving a maximum rate of vehicle retardation."
Defect/s: "The head lamps and/or turn signal lamps turn off, do not turn on or stay on"
Affects: Listed HERE
Action Required: Notification via Letter, or if you notice the fault, contact Mitsubishi immediately.
Extra Info: I actually experienced this fault myself, not a huge deal for most driving conditions, however the fault does get worse from the first time it occurs. Ended up on a 90kph+ stretch of road at midnight and the headlights turned off when I indicated to change lanes, unable to turn them back on. Not fun. This has been mentioned here
Defect/s: Passengers Airbag (Takata 'Beta')
Affects: Vehicles manufactured from 11 June 2003 to 30 December 2008 (CG, CH, CY, CZ & Evo 7-9)
Action Required: Notification via Letter, or if you read this first, contact Mitsubishi.
Extra Info: This is the worldwide recall on Takata bags. Check it out, here. This is a "like for like" replacement; the unit installed is faulty due to ageing & replacing with a similar "new" unit, the airbag is safe for another few years. AL Thread
Defect/s: Passengers Airbag (Takata 'Beta') (Second round)
Affects: Vehicles that have had a "like for like" replacement under the first re-call notice above.
Action Required: Notification via Letter, or if you read this first, contact Mitsubishi.
Extra Info: I'm yet to do this recall myself, however from my understanding for anyone who has had their airbag replaced thus far is open to have their airbag replaced permanently with a new design unit. If anyone has had this done, I'd like to hear any info you've heard.
