I bought a 06 ch es lancer with one key. The ones off ebay look good but I need to know are all lancers the same, what transponder chip and can I program the immobilser and central locking myself. Quoted $223 for new key off mitsubishi.
4d61 Ithink is the right chip. I have not been able to find the electric bit to go into a stock key shell

I am looking into a t300 automam programmer as I should be able to do 2 keys s well as get error codes etc. Just got to make sure it will work with this car. Other option is a remote start with immobilser bypass. Either option should also be more secure as well.

what most people do is get the key off ebay get the key cut then take it to Mitsubishi dealer to program it all up it can cost up to $150...

Tbh dont bother with ebay keys. I bought one and initally it was a pain in the ass for the key cutters to cut as it was a bit thicker than the initial key, then it was all a waste beause ther imobilizer was too far away from the keybarrel to start so it wouldnt. So it might just be worth going to mitsu and getting a proper genuine key to save you the hassle i went through

-buy a key from Mitsubishi
-give them your VIN & they will give you a key code
-take new key & code to a lock smith who will cut it according to the code
-take key & car to Mitsubishi again so they can tell the immobiliser to accept that key.
-everything will work & you paid an extra what? $80.00 ??

The car lives 10km from home (lowering it easy, RAISE it a bit harder) and I would have needed multiple keys for different drivers. I got a blank cut (suzuki blank-works) and now we can all carry that to unlock it, retreive transponder key and go so all I need now is 1 spare key. The automam will also give error codes etc. but if only need 1 spare transponder key will get locksmith to do it. Closest locksmith to program 400km so might see what mitsu want to program it.
