So my 1993 glxi Coupe didn't have Central locking, and we fast got sick of having to use keys etc.. hence:
Start by pulling off the door cards. (4 screws in total, then carefully pull them outwards starting from the bottom.)
Then carefully separate some of the plastic from the door to gain access.
In the kit I got, the actuators 'pull' to unlock, and where they need to go, there isn't any metal to mount to, so I had to mount them like this:
I had to drill the 4 holes to mount the brackets, and then screw the actuators to the brackets..
As you can see, they 'clamp' onto the existing rod, and pull it to unlock the car.
Next, lay out the wiring so you can see how it goes, it's a 4 door kit, so I tied up the extra 2 loom lengths...
Then you need to remove the grommets between the doors and car and drill fairly large holes in them to get the wires through (make sure you use 2 hands so the grommet doesn't fall down into the front fender ):
Then simply feed the appropriate wires through into the doors (both sides), making sure to have the grommets facing the correct way when you go through them, then push the grommets back into place.
Then just plug the appropriate wires together..
But we still need power.
To get this I tapped into the fuse box under the steering wheel as there's already a fuse there for central locking:
By using one of these fuse taps:
Crimp the power wire onto the fuse tap:
Plug the control box into the loom, and fasten up under the steering wheel somewhere, and find a suitable bolt to remove and connect the ground wire with that bolt:
Lucky last, remove the fuse from the afore mentioned fuse and put it into the fuse tap, and push the fuse tap into the slot you took the fuse out of.
It should now have power and be fully working!
Test it a few times, maybe even leave it a day or two to make sure it's 100% ok, then put the door cards (and plastic) back on the reverse of how you took them off!
Hopefully i haven't missed anything!
Good luck...
