hey guys

I got a 06 lancer LS and im really really after an exhaust! I dont exactly have the biggest bank account
so i was wondering if someone could help me with where i can get a second hand one from? would like
just a straight bolt on, if anyone knows anyone or anywhere i can get one please link or tell me!!

please no hate cos im still pretty new to auslancer im just looking for some help from more experience people
thanks

you will need to go to an exhaust shop and ask for a quote, a general catback is $300-450 or thereabouts

2nd hand might be a hassle, but if all you're after is the noise, you could pick up an axle back exhaust (last muffler and tip) for maybe 250 or so

What do you guys think of this, the opening is 11 x 8CM

I am after something that produces low noise, nothing too loud just a bit of grunt. Any suggestions would be appreciated

I dunno, a friend of mine just showed me. This is something like what I am looking for.

I think it's an exhaust tip like you find in the VRXs not an actual exhaust :? Anyone know if this is the standard on the CH VRX or is this something completely different?

im not overly keen on oval openings but thats just me

Hey Res, maybe you could help me out here. I am not that great with engine related mods. I am just after little bit of grunt when I accelerate but not too much. I don't want it to last all the way when I driving - it'll sound ridiculous in an auto.

I'm thinking extractors/headers:

and a nice catback perhaps  Do you reckon the exhaust above will make any difference in terms of noise ?
Suggestions welcome

Thanks

extractors, and an intake that gets 100% fresh air are going to be basic things that will give u a bit more go

yeh catback will give you noise, but if you are after power CAI and extractors are better power gainers

ok cool. Do you know any good catbacks that produce just a bit of noise?

What Res said plus:

I think it will make a difference in terms of noise anytime you're on the gas pedal. If you're just cruising it won't be so loud although might hum a bit, but step on the pedal and it'll be louder for sure. Get a resonator and rear muffler when you go cat back, not a milo tin sized cannon, and it will sound 'nice loud' at least.

What about running 98 RON PULP and see if that gives you the "grunt" you seek? IMHO the basic bolt on mods listed in various posts plus 98 PULP are worth every dollar but there are cons with the pros (can never do an alteration without some downside - it's a trade off). Not bad cons but cons nonetheless, e.g. louder, rattles/vibrations you didn't know existed, wanting to put your foot flat at every opportunity so any potential economy gains are never realised , higher maintenance costs, many more things depending on what you've done.

Looks like I'm a bit slow with my input lol!

You can 'tune' the noise with the rear muffler to some extent. If you're getting it done, be there and get them to hook up muffler options and run motor to check sound of each.

Ch mivec is already fairly grunty down low, spend your money on suspension and handling mods instead; strut bar, sway bar, 205 or 215 wheels. Coils if you have the budget.
