Come on man, its not my taste either but thats below the belt, if everyone had the same taste nothing would stand out or look good. Hes done well with his build how he wants it, no need to grill him, and he may yet have the performance to back it up one day.

I agree, I was quite harsh, but I really dislike people who want to be "unique" by putting on an Evo body part,t like everyone else.
And he has done well. I quite like his build. From the back the car looks great. But that's it.

if i wanted to look like an evo id have a 4 door.... have a evo rear bar... evo spoiler evo dash, cluster seats gearstick roof spikes oh yea i did have one on my evo and i took the spoiler off lol what i do have is a custom widebody lancer coupe custom ya know lots of sanding and fibreglassing and more sanding and painting you kno really working on a car!!!

Back on topic, I think an evo 6 wing looks good on CH's. Is that weird? Haven't seen them on a CG but I imagine it would be pretty similar. Whatever you decide on, I approve. Dem wings are the *woo-hoo*.

Saying its not your thing or what ever is one thing but geez. I'm all for telling people exactly what you think but kicking them in the guts at the same time is a bit much.
I can guarntee you the pokey rims you attempted to put on your mirage got way more laughs from people in general.
Any and all car mods ,events , clubs ,forums etc are all good for the. car scene in general tbh.

I'm not going to buy into the whole argument, but giefster isn't the only one, or the first to get personal here.

Opinion wise I have to side with giefster. If its not functional, putting a big evo spoiler on a non-evo is like putting a Rolex badge on an $80 lorus watch. Might be an ok watch to start with but you're trying to dress it up as something it's not. I had a modified car through the autosalon and fast and furious golden ages and even then this was my opinion and the general sentiment, which was when big spoilers and kits were all the rage. I remember piecing together my bodykit and the specific instructions were NOTHING EVO. Nowadays it's more about subtlety and less look at me. Why try to bring unnecessary attention to yourself when the cops are as tough on defects as they are these days?

To the OP, do what you please, its your car. But no matter what way you go there'll be those that like it and those that do. That's always going to be the way with modifying.

A lot of the time, a young P plater wants an evo, but 15-30k compared to 3+2k for an ill fitting body kit, for something that looks slightly the same is a good comprimise in their opinion.

And my opinion? I hate stanced evo's, I'd rather seen an evo done up for rallying and doing targas then sitting 5mm off the ground.

Not really. If you're doing engine conversions you're making it function a lot better, if not the same as the car you've taken the engine from, without trying to dress it up as one when it isn't. The same as putting Rays stickers on a set of Vorks, why try to claim it's something that it isn't? There's a big difference between function and form.

A lot of the people who do these aesthetic mods are the same people who don't know enough about engines to change an oil filter, let alone do a complete engine swap. They are also usually the same people who love their original car, but just want it to look however they want. Ain't nothing wrong with that. People do what they can and what they are comfortable with.

Nothing wrong with putting stickers on things either as long as you don't claim they're original. I don't see the harm in doing whatever aesthetic mods you want, as long as you don't defend it to the death as legitimately being something it's clearly not.

But its still trying to dress it up, trying to make it something that there is already in the evo, fto or galant. Its a tad hypocritical in my opinion. Whether its trying to make your car faster then it was, or look better then it was, its still doing the same thing and still trying to achieve what an evo, etc has already done...

Its like, putting a rolex workings in an $80 lorus watch. It's still a lorus watch. In the sense that my 6A12 coupe is still a lancer not an FTO, in the sense joshy's Turbo Coupe is still a lancer not a GSR, in the sense that john's 6a13tt coupe is still a lancer, not a galant. No matter what engine, bodykit, anything, it will always still be, just a lancer. (Unless you do things radical things to make it not a lancer)
