CH lancer fan concerns

I have a 2005 CH lancer, which I have owned for 6 years and absolutely adore. Generally when the car is in idle and in park the fan turns on, which is normal and when it goes into drive the fan used to go off but of late I have noticed recently when I put the car in drive the fan is still on and even when I turn the car off it the fan is still running for at least 30 seconds after wards. Is this something I should be worried about? It also feels like she has lost a bit of power as well. Any information is appreciated. thanks. :)

Something to do with cooling? Maybe the coolant is getting less efficient? Has it been changed in the last 2-3 years?

Some CH's had an issue with this, there may have been a recall out on it. My gf's had the same or similar happen a few years back, think it may be head to a dealership time for a hopefully free fix.

faulty fan speed controller; loses its intermittent speeds and can only run off-slow-fast.

new fan speed controller is about $60 if it really bother you.

So that'd explain why mine's started doing it this summer...

As long as the fan's are running I don't have an issue, so should be alright OP.

Yeah it's common problem with Mitsubishis. However with the Lancer CH's there was a known factory defect with these.

I had a similar problem with these modules - the fans were always running even after the car is turned off for a few seconds. Got a new one put in and problem stopped.
You should get it replaced because it drains the battery when the fan is always on and could possibly cause them to malfunction which leads onto replacing the fan and what not.

Good Luck!!

btw I think there is another thread for this problem lurking around somewhere in this forum.

Great! Thank you everyone for your responses. Even though the car is out of warranty I will contact a Mitsubishi dealer and express my concerns. Once again thanks! :D
