Hi all i get a weird gearbox issue every now and again and it's worse this time. Gearbox has had an oil change about 2 weeks ago and last couple of days it hasn't been happy. Car had a new clutch put in just over a year ago. But sometimes it feels like it's struggling to go into gear and isn't smooth, feels like resistance or it's grinding against something like the syncros aren't moving properly or clutch isn't always properly grabbing. It's weird and i struggle to describe and or word things so i do apologise. Sometimes it goes into gear fine and other times it doesn't. It's kind of clunky and odd times crunches and brushes it's teeth but only twice since the oil change. Is this common or major. Car has about 150-160000kms unsure as cluster has been changed.
Sorry for the long post
Thanks in advance

Clutch also feels like the grabbing point either changes or moves or it doesn't enage properly. Really strange

Hey mate, I’d go and bleed your clutch - and check the fluid level. Sounds like the clutch is dragging, which is possibly caused by air in the system or even a leak in the master or slave.

That makes actual sense as my brakes aren't as responsive as they have been before. I think the last time i bled everything it was a rushed job hence why this happens from time to time. Why didn't I think of it lol. Thanks heaps man much appreciated will get it bled asap when my old man is home to give me a hand with it. Airbubbles move and travel which would explain it being good at times and others not

Both brakes and clutch probably need a good bleed. Brakes are ok but wouldn't hurt to bleed the whole system as well as the clutch. But mainly clutch as the car stops alright

Fluid level is good, no sign of leaks, car has driven perfectly since last night and also today. Haven't been able to bleed it yet but it'll do this and go good for ages except for some minor clutch slips when shifting mainly into 4th which indicates it's still dragging probably. Hopefully I'll have it bled sunday afternoon when my father gets home as i don't have anyone else around to help.

It’s going to sound like an odd thing to try, but if you can, try pushing the clutch pedal slightly sideways as it goes down. Try left, try right, try pressing dead true down.

If you notice that the bite point changes consistently if you apply sideways pressure the master cylinder seal is worn. Won’t give you a leak, but it will let fluid slip behind the master and give you that feeling you’re talking about

Give it a bleed and check the hose connections are all tight. I changed my box about two years ago, but it wouldnt always go into gear, and would always have air in the line when bleeding. Turns out the solid-to-rubber hose connections needed literally only an extra 1/8th of a turn to fully seal

Will do man, I'll check all connections as well. It's just really odd as it only does it every now and again

Mine was like that, id stomp the pedal a few times and it would be mint for a couple weeks, and then it would be every day. No idea on how it works, but thats where id start

It's been happening since i last bled very lol, was a rushed job but I'll definitely be checking and going over everything and get to the bottom of it. Apart from this It's a decent little car
