I'm going to post the stupid question, is one of the wires on the maf plug loose?
I know this doesn't sound healthy, but disconnect the maf (unplug it) and turn it on.
If it does the same that may be somewhere to check then.
Only reason I say is that once when I had to change a few things I forgot to reconnect the maf plug and the idle would go from hi to low. After having a quick check I reconnected and it was fine.

if it was O2 it would feel sluggish as and have really delayed resposes to throttle movment
when is it really jerky? all the time or on idle?

Sounds like a dodgy maf connection to me. I'd rule out 02 sensors they would not cause the idle issues you have.
What happens when you floor it?[/QUO
When i floor it, there's not an instance response and there is a jerk in rpm before anything happens. After awhile it will pick up speed.
Hey all,
I currently own a 2002 CE Lancer 1.8L.
I recently got a K&N pod filter with the necessary adaptors and installed it. As soon as i started the engine, it jerks through the low RPMs. Almost sounds like its about to stall.
I initially thought the MAF was messed up so i got another one from the wreckers but it's still having the same issue.
I also took out the pod filter and left the MAF connected to the engine and the car is still jercking.
There are no leaks or no hoses that aren't connected? Any ideas what ia wrong?
Hey guys , I've just bought my lancer CE over the weekend and about to buy the below, was really planning on the pod for this weekend too - as it sound like it'll mess up the ECU reading I'm not too sure which direction is most logical now . Would the below adaptor cause the above unfortunate issue ? As it seems like a direct fit to our 1.8L ?
