4g64? need some opinions - might buy a magna/recommend a car

hey guys,

due to personal reasons and being reminded of the main reason i actually bought my CE everytime i look at the *top bloke* im probably going to be selling it...i know wasted money but at the moment i couldn't give less of a *fudge*.

Anyway, as ugly as everyone thinks they are I don't mind the magnas....reliability wise whats the deal with these? Heard the 3.5s are more reliable than the 3s. Everytime a client has one I make it a habit of asking how they find it, no complaints thus far.

Also I'll be hunting for one in manual if that makes too much of a difference.

I used to own a th magna sports probably the best car iv owned luxury and comfort wise, never had any issues with it but they do like petrol

I figure....worst case is i put it on gas or drive it like a grandma when i need to save petrol.

3.5 and auto or trip would be bit heavy on fuel

I had a te magna manual 3 ltr never had a probably and there quicker the a ford or holden in the same era.

If anything try get one that has the waterpump and belt done unless your getting a low k's one.

thanks! i guess I'll just keep a look out for anything in decent condition. Manuals seem to be pretty rare....

how long did you have your TE for 'NICE AS'?

About 2 years was my second car felt like a mercedes as I was coming from a torana no p/steer, efi or aircon. I didnt do too much to it lowered a lil bit put some chromies on and tint.

Depending what year you want a vrx would be sweet nice sporty car and roomy

Colour coded the grill,mirrors,wipers. And did some trim on the door cards this was about 2002 2003

looks sexy

i want something around that model. from 96 upwards i think, when the shape changed. anywhere else i could try apart from carsales?

Carsales pretty much is linked with carpoint i think.

Drive.com.au, Ebay, gumtree gold coast or brisbane, courier mail on the weekends think its sunday has the big carguide

Magna's are for sale everywhere - but it's a good one that's hard to find.

manual magnas on the other hand geo....are rare as FK! and finding a good one lol..

was also considering an impreza. 2.0l variant, maybe in hatch for the sake of convenience even though they're pretty ugly. so if anyone has some opinions about those, id like to hear them :)

depends on how much I like it and whether i sell the lancer first. was looking at spending max about 6-7k without selling the lancer first....so if i do can spend a bit more. That said I don't really want to spend that much, should be able to pick up a nice impreza for 5500 if i hunt around, magnas for a similar price. found a sexy as TJ sports in manual for 6500, should be able to get it a little cheaper too.

i've gotta head off for work now but ill look into a galant(ive got no idea how much they're worth) when i get back or tomorrow sometime daws, didn't even cross my mind. any other sugestions are welcome...:)

well that was the quickest job ever...anyway galants are obviously outta my price range unless i go way old. come on....ideas guys :)
 
my mates got the VR-X in blue in a manual aswell WAS selling it for 5k lol but taken it off the market now but i dunno about reliability all i know is there comfy & it goes like a shower of sh*t but also as said they like a drink :/
 
im gonna assume goes like a shower of *poo* means its fast. shouldn't drink TOO much depending on how i drive it. was kinda leaning towards an impreza but i think I'm just going to keep an eye out and if i find something in good cond for a decent price take it.

any other cars i could look at? took a look at a few ftos, kinda impractical and most seem to be auto. but id bloody love one in manual.

yes shower of sh*t means hell fast ummmmm how about a silvia or skyline?? s13's & r32's are going cheap & look the goods i'm thinking of buying one aswell & have it ready for when i get off my p's :D
 
hmm not a fan of skylines, nice car but not for me. silvias i don't mind but seems to be hard to find one in decent condition.

edit: leaning towards magnas after that shower of *poo* comment lol. really just needa go drive one though
