Howdy all. New user so go easy. I've got a Nov 96 CH with a 1.8ltr engine. All stock. 370,000km. Its my daily drive to work. Anyway it has developed pinging when the engine gets warm. I've checked the valves and adjusted correctly, changed the plugs and set the gap. Still pinging. Whilst doing the plugs and valve gaps I checked the timing and found that it was firing at approx 5deg after TDC at idle and at approx 1500rpm it was firing at approx 5deg BTDC. Timing sensor looks to be on the cam.
I haven't removed No 1 plug and measured TDC compared to the timing mark on the harmonic balancer. Just run standard fuel. Uses abit of oil. Shes no concourse car, she's fairly rough to look at. Just good to dodge roo's on the way to and from work. Just want to keep the old girl going.
Any help would be appreciated
