1.5 engine mods

Hi everyone just wanted to get a sense of what I can do to the engine to give it a lil kick up the hills. My car is auto and stock and my work horse so just think of the little things I can do that's not gonna hurt my pocket as just had my first child and not looking to do engine swaps or though would love to do so but can't. Thanks guys for all future replys as always

loosen the dizzy screws and rotate to advance the timing, tighten back up, and done. that should help give a little tiny kick

Donki the ECU compensates for this and rotating the distributor cap in actuality does nothing.

The reality of the matter is that getting more power out of a 1.5 auto without hurting your pocket is unlikely

Thanks guys I've read through other threads and was wondering if getting the exhaust and extractors done and maybe cold air intake from hens. Would these mods do anything to help it give a kick to the lilttle beast. I've done the basic mods to car like mr interior, mr bodykit but no spoiler, Fto brake upgrade with upgraded bmc. Full pioneer Dvd sound system with custom false floor in the boot. Now just looking for engine improvement without swapping engines as my don't see how that conversation will go down with my wife lol will take photos of my car next time I take it for a wash lol

Have you thought about a.... Ahhhh TURBO? That will get you more power without an engine swap. An engine swap would probably be cheaper though.

i thought the dizzy advance was done only via vacuum/centrifuge?

I think that is for some really old cars.
My 6G74 has a distributor and timing is controlled by the ECU

I had a 1.5 auto for a long time. It doesn't go faster unless you suddenly find more throttle. In saying that I could always keep up with the fellas because I had good suspension and strut braces and rear sway bar. It made an excellent experience but other than some good headers and simple exhaust you're not going to see much of gain through any means.
It would be cool to see someone slap s cam in one?(not super expensive for a regrind) If you're willing to thrash the slush box some more.

Turbo and engine swap definitely out of the question as my wife has already ruled them out lol. So even headers and an exhaust won't make a bit of a diffence to the car is that correct. If so maybe just leave the car as is

To be honest man, To get a 1.5 moving you need to spend $$$.... Lots of them.
You could do extractors and exhaust and spend more or less thousand dollars and maybe get a few kw's.
Or buy a wrecked coupe or sedan with a 1.8 for about $500 or less and transplant it on a weekend with some mates over and be much better off.

I think you need to decide how best to spend the money and who you can bribe to help you with things you cant do.

What does a rear sway bar do to the car sorry if stupid question

Better cornering and makes for cool wheel lift pics!

Thanks arc and guys for all the advice and I guess for now will have to stay with the 1.5 under the hood until I can convince my wife for an engine upgrade lol thanks again to everyone

The cheapest and easiest mod would be a timing adjustment with 98 octane fuel.
The distributor does adjust timing. Timing can be done with a timing light or you can advance the distributor until pinging occurs then retard until no more pinging happens. Extractors will make a small difference but cost is big for the amount of power you will get.

I use 98 octane already lol but I think I'll quietly save up the money for an engine transplant and pay someone to put it in as I'm proficient in other things but know that there's no way I could do this myself thanks again to everyone and will do a build thread this weekend

Lol I've got that add saved in my favourites but that's only for the engine complete but I'll need ecu plus all the keys/barrels and transmission and what ever other little things I'll need for the engine transplant unless this guy has everything I need

Just spoke to that guy and his want a part list so he can give me a price. If some can give me a exact part list of what I'll need to do the engine transplant thanks guys
