Rear Muffler

Hi Guys
Recently thanks to "you know who" I received an nasty letter in the mail informing me that my exhaust was too loud.

I got my CH VRX from a dealership and they said it was roadworthy but after doing a certified EPA testing I failed by 9dB and it's too late to do anything about it at the dealership as "I could have changed it myself since purchasing it"

Does anyone know the best place to grab a cheap Rear Muffler that's not a stock one that will reduce my sound to under 90dB?
My intake it 2" flat and i've got the 2.0lt Engine.

Thanks.

Damn straight, wake me up every morning with that god damn exhaust!!

But seriously, a lot of muffler places will be able to give you a stock replacement that sounds a bit nicer then stock but keeps it within regulation.

Hey, I got a Redback J527M (universal) muffler on my 2.0L and a friend also on his CH VRX. Deep sound but not loud (if you don't have a resonator it will sound like a cat being strangled - but still not too loud). Not sure what other people think of redback stuff, but its served me well for 4 years.

Brilliant, that's exactly what i'm after.
Thanks a bunch buddy

You can definitely get the dealer to fix it, but they'll probably take the cheapest option and you may end up with a used stock muffler (wreck etc). If you want a nice-but-legal one, you may have to push them.

You can try the wreckers yourself for a performance muffler on a Lancer, maybe even Ralliart/Evo or Magna for a quick swap. If you can install yourself (or get it done), EBay has mufflers for $100, but I've been warned away from those types :\

just go back to the dealership as they would have records and pjotos of the car so they cant say you changed it and get them to fix it if they give you a hard time dont be all shy or timid just tell them that the news and the police will be more than healpful to stop a dealership selling unroadworthy vehicles

i also have a CG VRX i had a sports muffler that i just took off an stock one put on few days ago an dont need the sports one anymore, its the whole muffler that will bolt straight back onto it
