Ok. So i can't drive my car for about another month (ive got my 100 hours, im just now 17 yet). I was thinking because my interior is ugly and blue (well at least i think its ugly and blue)

How hard would it be to "change" the colour as it be. is it just a matter taking the whole dash apart and painting?, or is there a bit more involved then that?

thanks for help in advanced :D

Check out my build thread mate. I'm slowly but surely changing mine from ugly grey to blue & black, it might help you with some ideas.
First thing with yours though is what is all the blue? is it paint or is the plastic a molded blue? If it's paint then it's going to take a fair bit of time & patience to strip it off back to a clean surface to work with.

Edit: if you want to get rid of your blue carpet I know a good home for it ;)

yeah is a bit of effort and its best to do a few coats so it doesnt fade or crack and chip off
i did it with my old car i removed the whole interior well plastic bits and sanded it back so new
paint could cling and then painted away with some black then put a clear coat on it does work out alot
cheaper but alot of effort like ozz said you can do it bit by bit

Personally, I like the blue. I reckon if you just matched the door cards it'd look awesome.

BUT, as everyones already said, the whole painting part is the easy bit - just the prep bit takes time and effort. Don't skip any steps doing the prep work.

yeah thats it dont be lazy with it and also pulling it all out and putting it back in is a pain in the ass lol

If you have like a spare few days to take the dash out, prep, paint and put it back in. Go for it!

Its easy to do. Use a fibreglass filler and spray all the plastic parts. From this step, sand the parts nice and smooth ready for the undercoat.

All thats left to do is spray the parts with a clear coat.

yea, its been tempting for a while. The car just sits there during the week, and rarley gets used on the weekend now due to me already having over 100 hours. What colour should i go for? (and yea, i really dont like the blue :p), i was thinking a silver to match the outside?

Personally I like the blue too but if you were going to do it I would go black inside with maybe silver trim bits(will be easier to match up the carpet too). I don't like the idea if a silver interior but thats just me. As has been said on here b4 go with what you like cause modding is individually suited to you not us.
One thing you will find though is that if you start this then you pretty much have to go right through the interior for everything to match up nice instead of a hodge podge of different colors. It's a big job but one thats worth doing if your unhappy with it as it is.
Don't forget that if your going to get rid of the carpet, gimme a yell ;) If you end up going with the silver I have a good nick spare grey carpet here I could trade ya for that should match it ok.

sweet, thanks oz. Im actually thinking of starting small, and maybe just painting the centre console?. As i have removed this undred of times. Fine sand back then spray paint?. Sorry as i have stated before im a nub on everything :p

1 rule.

DO NOT USE SPRAY PAINT

i learned from experience

and if you are going to do this, please get a second interior from the wreckers incase you *fudge* up

Why is that D? All mine is done in spray & so far 1 1/2 yrs down the track(in a black car through the heat of summer) there is no sign of any peeling, lifting, bubbling or cracking... I reckon as long as you do the prep thoroughly & use the right paints/primers etc there is no probs using spray paint. Just curious to know your reason for saying that is all, not arguing the point :D

its never as good as getting a real trimmer to do it.

i agree with the prep aswell. but some brands are really crappy and wont turn out how you want

here's a picture of my friends VR's interior. i can tell you there is ALLOT of prep that he put into it and well.. yeh..

This is my effort so far, as you can see I still have a lot of work still to do but it's hella better than the old stock gray.

thats awesome. the photo is on photo bucket... so you should be able to view it with ease... the old centre dash is broken, so even if it does turn out good, i wont be able to use it.
