Lancer ce glxi oil leak

Hi guys, new here.
Recently bought first car (1998 Lancer ce coupe 1.8) and when inspected oil level was above the max. I wanted to drain some amount and climbed under car. On the pics you can see what I've seen, pretty much oil around oil pan.
Car runs ok so far but I just don't want to mess up with it and get my engine down.
I'm really noob, don't know much and willing to learn, but it seems to me it is sealant leak from the oil pan. Please tell me, am I right? How bad is it? What can I do (probably replace it by myself, don't know how complicated it could be), or ask the service to inspect and repair it? How much it may cost me?
Appreciate any information and useful advices, thank you!

Welcome bud.

First thing id suggest, is get a can or two of Degreaser from your local car store (autobarn, supercheap, etc), and give that leak area a good spray down and gentle rinse with a hose, and then check it again after a few days This will let you know how bad of a leak it is, or it it was just old oil and grime leftover.

Replacement of the oil pan (or even just a new sealant) is simple - drain the oil, remove the bolts holding the pan to the engine, and give the pan a great clean. Its held oil for years, so it will take a while to get spotless (a little petrol as a solvent will help). i dont recall if the CE has a specific gasket for the oil pan, but you can use any oil-proof gasket glue from your local store. Just make sure to follow the instructions exactly, and a video or two on youtube will make it all make sense
