CG lancer

hey guys, was bored at tafe today, decided to scroll through carsales..

i noticed the CG lancer, i think with badge LS?
i actually really liked the square look, same body as an evo 7 right? the only drawback i see is the massive chevvy grille :L ... i just realised next to no-one on this forum has a cg!
a few CH's getting around, but imo i cant stand the bug-eye headlights, and too much round-ness.

so ill just stop beating around the bush... why does no-one have a CG?
i started looking abit more at specs... and the 2.0l 4g94 which seems to pull more than the '93 caught my attention too.
is the '94 hard to mod? i thought it was similar to the CH.. and a turbo kit on a 2.0l surely would have abit of grunt.

anyways... just wondering why no-one seems to like them.

/endrant

Not quite the same as an evo 7, maybe similar. And it seems they are less common to see on the road, so maybe that's why they are less common here.

I don't reeeally like the look, even less the CH tho lol. CE FTW!!

the 4g94 is exactly the same to mod as a 4g93

infact they share ALOT in common, the only real differences are the block and cam

the head, intake mani's, exhaust mani's and most other bolt on mods are easily interchangable between the 2

No one has one since they were in competition with the CEIII coupe at the same time of production sale. When they took the CE off production there was only about a year of production/sale before the CH was released, an updated design of the CG, but more so to match their more current line of other cars... (take note the final magna had the teardrop headlights as the CH). So saying that my CH is a august 03 build date and the CH was released in '04. So in effect the CG only really had maybe a 1year of solid production and 1 year of solid sales. Hence why they "never took off". Not to mention this replaced the already semi-popular 4door lancer (ala sedan).

Yes they have the similar design as a e7 but if you notice the 04 Evo8 has changed its bumper to follow suit with the recent facelift of all mitsubishi's in production (speaking in terms of 8years ago).
in essence, though the CG/CH look like the Evo7 and evo8/9 respectively, the chassis are very different to my understanding. Where as before with e1-6 the chassis was more or less the same as the 4door equivalent lancer, and even so most parts would more or less bolt up. In saying this the interior or the e7/8/9 will bolt into a CG/CH effortlessly, but when you start looking at chassis width (eg. distance between strut towers and angles and firewall depth, as well as lower suspension and that) the evo's take a lot different route. So hence why you dont see many modifiable parts for CH/CG since you could say a fair few of the suspension/rice elements of the CE's were transferable between Evo and lancer. (not to mention that the CE had 6/7years of production to the CH's 4 and CG's 2). And finally that the chassis code is shared between CH/CG hence, they are the same car but with different looks.

There is so much more i can go into, but without rambling or knowing your more direct questions I won't ;)

i have a cg vrx and love it since it first hit the market.
really hate the look of the front end of the ch but thats just me.

but then again the cg is as close as i will get to an evo 7 till i can afford one. (starting a family doesn't help that)

Yeah in Australia, the CG only ran from around July 02, to July 03 before the CH came in. They ran a lot longer in foreign markets, also known as the Cedia, it came in 2000 and ran through to 2006 in some countries I believe.

Yes they come with a big grille, but do what I did with mine and order a ralliart grille. It completely changes the front end of the car. And looks a million times better than CH's when that's done.

In the CG's the models went ES = base, LS = up specced ES which had a few small changes to the styling, and then the VRX sports model. The main differences from the evo (apart from the obvious drive train and engine) is that the evos were wide bodied. Where the evo 5-6 retained the same boot and tail lights as the CE's, the Evo 7-9 replaces the whole rear end basically, with wider tail lights, to meet up with the wider rear panels.

Here's some of mine when I had it (unfortunately only pics I have of it):

its such a nice shape imo.... and yeah skip youre right. the shell is very similar, but the chassis is not.
anyways, i suppose you have a point... not many were realeased, and not for long, so they werent very popular.
but i still think they have alot of potential. 92kw or something? thats like 10 more than the ce.... and being compatible with the CH body, but CE engine.... best of both worlds i think.

thanks for your input everyone :) first CG thread in this sub-forum i think.. hahaha

p.s. ian; the grille replacement you did makes it look WAY more boss... if only you had a pic without half the front being covered :(

Cg lancers also have same size fronts and drum rears as a ce, plus a lot of chs came with the 2.4 mivec. I dunno. I like my ch. but I do like the front end of a cg. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.
