Brake Pads

Howdy folks,

I'm currently in the need for some pads for my 2006 CH Lancer. Spirited street use and I'll track the car maybe 3 or so times this year so nothing too fancy but I guess resistance to brake fade and high temp use is desirable.

I've looked at hawks, EBC and a few others but aren't really sure which are good and will fulfill my needs. I've heard Project Mu and Endless have good pads but don't think they have them for this car.

Any help regarding this would be greatly appreciated.

Man you really don't need to go all high class performance brands.. Some bendex ultimates will be fine, I have run them on the evo.

I used EBC greens in my 06 ch, was quite nice improved feel, no threat of fade, probably more than I needed (barely got to break them in before car died)

Hmmmmmmmm for some reason my friend thinks EBC are pieces of *poo* lol and quite expensive. The bendix ultiamtes seem like a good option although they don't seem to have them specifically for this car.

They have them for CH ES 2.0 and CH 2.4 Wagon.......would the wagon ones be the same?

depends what your brake calipers are 256mm rotors or 276mm rotors. ch came out with 2 different calipers.
easy way to tell is the clips that hold the pads in. 276mm have 2 big metal clips to hold the pads while the 256mm have 4 metal clips going of the mitsubishi ASA software.
if you are unsure take one out and take the pad in with you to match up at the shop if you have another car or someone to take you.

EBC Reds are pretty good, I think most of the EBC haters haven't tried them since they changed their compounds a few years back now.

Given you want to track the car you should be looking for a high temp pad. I personally would go for a QFM A1RM. Henry can probbaly source these for you, if not give GSL Rallysports/BrakesDirect a call.

Thanks for the replies.

QFM A1RM seems like a good choice, I think I might give those a go. Who's Henry btw?

Personally this is my take on QFM's pads, HPX for spirited street driving and A1RM for hard spirited driving and occasional track usage...

depending how much you want to spend on brakes I would look at swapping over the front calipers to FTO twins and slotted rotors the brake lines also need to be replaced as well and then add whatever pads you like -

but if you just want to swap out pads EBC Greens is the best all round pad no need to heat up before driving which is what reds need doing...

Bendex pads get a litle dusty they work really well but brake dust can be a problem for some
