Always had a thing for Lancers myself but never had one, Pick up the young blokes first car tomorrow.
2003 VRX Manual
Very Proud Dad moment, has worked his arse off to earn money for his first car.
Let the games begin ;)Lancer.jpg

Nice pick up, even nicer you got a manual. Everyone should learn to drive stick before going auto!

Any plans ?

Completely agree,

only plans at the moment is get him used to driving it lol
We will start with Stereo and a few little things first, as he is still learning performance can come later

Welcome to the forum's, seeing he saved like hell he will appreciated the car more than if it was a handout, that's for sure, it looks like a good buy, and being a VRX has all the goodies as standard, should be reasonably trouble free and be very open to some mods in the future.

Welcome to the forum

As a young bloke myself, owning a Lancer as my first car (02 CE mr) can tell you that they are brilliant, good to own and good for fun to drive

Plus, ever reliable and great on fuel (being a student, can tell you; its a saving grace!!)

Keep us all posted (and more pics!)

Cheers for the comments guys, we compromised with the car, being a dad i wanted him to have a ute simply so he has less mates in the car egging him on, but at the end of the day, the rules were no Turbo pocket rockets, no V8s
The Lancer only has 101,000ks on her, is pretty clean and has limited battle scars so a good base for him to start with

Good compromise with the ute idea, i can understand where you are coming from with that logic, as a parent of 17-25 yr olds its a case of been there done that, still have the t shirt, cheers.

If you wanna be real sneaky about it, you could do some mods that improve braking and handling and just palm them off as being sick mods. Like for new rims get at least 7" wide, more tyre surface plus you get new wheels. And get some sway bars or strut braces etc for more rigidity and handling. Upgrade the brakes to bigger rotors and calipers and better pads. Not sure if CGs had ABS but even if they do, huge brakes with good pads will pull up better than small brakes with ABS. Be like aww yeah we're gonna do some sweeeet mods but in reality you're secretly going 100% dad.

Bigger brakes never hurt any cause. Whether it's the go fast, or how well he pulls up before rear ending someone. Would 100% go for that haha
