Hi folks,
Apologies for barging in on your forum but need help. My lancer ran out of fuel and after putting fuel in the tank it still won't start. I just need to know the best way to get fuel up the line or easy access to the carburettor to pour fuel straight in to there. It could also be an airlock thing. Would anyone have any tips? I'm an idiot for letting it happen. It's a 2006 MY Lancer 5 speed auto sedan.

Uhhhhhhh this doesnt have a carby dude... Tried turning it over with the foot flat to the floor?

Fill it up, and just turn the key and let it crank over for like 20 seconds.


If youve really drained the fuel tank til its "dry", then you'll need to let it crank for a bit to get the fuel back into the fuel lines/rail (though, it should be primed when the key is set to ON)

You'll probably find that your fuel filter is full of crap from the bottom of the tank.
Probably a good idea to change it.

I sort of had the same problem with my Mirage, I ran it down to 1L off empty and close to another time.
Took a trip down the coast and tried powering up a big ass hill/mountain and the car starved out.
Turned out my fuel filter had picked up a bunch of crap and clogged up.

So the you have another possibility.

THanks for the tips. New battery so should still crank for over 20 seconds. Just want to get it going and then will replace the filter if I can get away with that. Shows my knowledge of Lancers re: no carby.

It's an MY07 CH Lancer if that helps.

Good luck changing the fuel filter, just had the one done in my CC Monday and the mechanic said it was hell to get out, and that's with a hoist and help. Hope the CH is easier to get to.

No in the CC (4G93) it's between the engine and firewall. Not sure if it was moved to some other place in later models.

Apparently it's easy to see and even reach, just a pain to get tools in there to remove.

Try push/hill starting a couple of times to pump the fuel closer to the ignition source. Has helped me in the past.

haha CH is in tank and much more of a pain imo. You gotta separate the fuel pump which has like tons of bits and pieces. Easier to get to, yes.

Fuel filters easy! Im a first year and can do them haha, just gotta make sure you don't forget any o rings otherwise you will have low fuel pressure. But yes to me sounds like a blocked fuel filter or in the rare case, fuel pump has seized.. When you turn your reds on (accessories), can you hear a slight buzzing noise? If so fuel pump is ok and is priming
