Fitting a Ch Vrx bumper on a Ch Es Limited Edition

Hey,
This might sound silly, but I was wondering if a Ch Vrx bumper would fit on a Ch Es Limited Edition?
I like the chunky look. Would it suit my car and would it look okay without having side skirts? :)
Thank you :)

Yes it would, same body shape so bolt and push-pin holes should line right up. May look a little odd without the skirts, but I guess its hard to tell without actually seeing it done. It might work without skirts, though it's all about your personal preference.

Thanks mate :) If I can find a black Vrx at a wreckers and it's not too expensive, I'll get the bumper and try it out :)

Good luck finding one at a wreckers, VRX wrecks are quite rare. I only found one in the whole south Brisbane area, poached the side skirts off it :p front bumper on it was all crushed though

Cheers :) Aw really?! :) I have seen quite a few in south Brisbane and the Gold Coast in the last month because I was looking for a centre console with a lid, but I know what you mean about rare, because I could only find 1 that still had its console :) Aw nice :) How much did the side skirts cost you? Were they easy to take off? :)

Yeah, although having said that I haven't been to a wreckers in nearly 3 months since I had a little accident at one. I had no luck finding a console with a lid...

I got the side skirts for $150, they were pretty easy to take off. There are two bolts mounting it at the front wheel, then there are several screws along the underside which need removing. And then there are some pins going into the side of the body, they just pull straight out. All in all, very simple to remove.

Aw okay true :) Really? The way they stack the cars is pretty dodgy aye! Aw okay. It depends on what console and lid you want, cause you can get the 2L Vrx console and lid (which is plastic) or a 2.4L Vrx console and lid (which has a black cushion lid) They are both really hard to find!! I wanted the 2.4L Vrx console and lid which was a little bit rarer, but it's a bit nicer. I did notice a few wreckers had a plastic lid and console in stock :)

Aw yeah nice, thats not to badly priced :) Aw okay awesome. Does your car have the holes and that already to screw or did you have to drill your own holes and for the screws and pins? :)

I've never had an issue with the way they stack their cars actually. My accident was my own fault.

I've never seen any lidded consoles... I'll have to start looking further! Yeah, I think they originally wanted $180 for them but I got them down to $150.

As for mounting them, you'll need to remove the front mud guards and just bolt that end of the skirt into the holes where the mud guards were mounted. Non-VRX Ch's have some mounting points along the underside for screws, but the screws from the VRX are too small so you'll need to buy some larger screws and they'll work just fine.
There are no holes in the side of the car however, and rather than drill holes in the side of my car I took the pins off the skirts and just sikkaflex'd along the top to keep it in place, then left for a few hours to dry (it is useful to use spare tyres to prop the skirts up so they don't fall off while the sikkaflex is drying)

The only difference b/w the CH VRX bumper (if 06-07) is the lips/skirts, Otherwise the CH LE already has the mesh grille like the VRX and same shape fog light spaces.
However if your looking for a pre-05 VRX bumper then there are a few differences: slightly shorter bumpers, 2 piece grille, shape of fog light housing differs. Side skirt lengths on both are identical.

I reckon if you want the VRX look, then go for just the skirts and lips instead of the whole bumper, unless you can get the whole lot for cheap.

btw Welcome to the forums :) You can post your ride thread here: viewforum.php?f=23
It looks like you have the exact same car as me, colour and everything :p

Actually I think the pre-mivec bumpers are still longer, the VRX ones from 4g94 era were longer in length than the non-VRX. It's just the grille design that differs, with the 2006-onwards lacking the "nose".

And the front lip may not fit onto the non-VRX bumper, I think the dimensions are different due to the extra length

yeah i meant that. Pre-05 VRX have longer bumpers. You can always snip off any excess :p

Aaaahhh so many quotes within quotes

Yeah true, might be harder to get a clean finish with trimming though :p and you'd have to drill your front bumper to make holes for the front lips

And YES make a ride thread! We need pictures of your car :)

Hahahaha yeah!!! :) Thank you for the welcome :D Haha yeah all of those points are true :) It never came to mind until the other day, that yeah "05" Vrx bumpers are longer and "06/07" Vrx's aren't longer, they just have a rear lip :) Yeah mate we do have the same car :D I like the Vrx grille it's cool  The sides skirts and rear lip sound like a good idea. Would the lip cover the existing cut out for the exhaust pipe though? :) Fog lights are next on my list and window tint :) I found a foglight kit on ebay for around $75 :) I heard the was an o4 vrx at Seventeen Mile Rocks and there was 2 Vrxs (1 2L and a 2.4L at Underwood Wreckers) :)

There is a wreckers at underwood??? How did I not know this... that is so close to me

Yeah its at 98 Kingston Rd :) Its down a narrow driveway, so it's hard to see :) I got my centre console with the cushion lid from there :)

If you get the front bar make sure you also get the hardware to go along with it just makes the job of fitting that little bit easier.
Check out the evo forums as well if chasing a centre console with a lid these you can usually pick up for around $50
