Quick DIY on how to install gas bonnet struts into your CC coupe/sedan/wagon/hatch/whatever.
What you will need:
1 x pair gas bonnet struts
Socket set with 10mm and 12mm sockets
A brain
Step One:
Undo the middle bolt on your fender, and place the longer end of the bonnet strut on top, then do the bolt back up. You want the exposed metal of the strut to be on the bottom with the covering shaft above it (refers to pictures).
Step Two:
Undo the top bolt of your bonnet hinge, place the other tab of the bonnet strut on top of the hinge, then do the bolt back up. At this point you will need to be holding the bonnet open manually, as it will need to be raised further back than your little bonnet opener stick thing can reach. You also want to make sure your tabs are as straight as possible, parallel to your panels for a neat install and no problems with them bending while you open/close the bonnet.
Step Three:
While still holding your bonnet open repeat steps 1 and 2 for the other bonnet strut.
Step Four:
Slowly close your bonnet, checking that the struts clear everything and are retracting fine.
Step Five:
Double check all your bolts are tight. Enjoy.
