Tried to start my CH tonight and it cranks over but won't start. All electrics seem fine in that the lights, dash, stereo etc. all run and the battery shows good charge so I am thinking it's fuel related?
I noticed that there is a humming noise coming from the engine bay, near the fuel rails/outlet manifold that don't recall hearing before. I tired to hear if the fuel pump primes up when ignition is clicked on however I could not hear a thing, but I don't actually recall hearing it previously either. The sound is constant and quite loud, and goes away when the ignition is turned off.
Just looking for hints on what to look at or test.. I can check to see if the engine is getting spark tomorrow but I've never really tested a fuel pump etc. before. I've also read it could be a timing belt, the engine had low km's on it (less than 140K) and the belt was done at 80-90k km or so off memory, so I would be disappointed if it was...
I didnt check fuses either, thats aso on the list tomorrow morning.
I don;t drive the car that much but my wife recently pinted out the following (I'm not sure if they are related?):
1. When starting the car there is a ticking noise from the engine bay - it's been there since we got the car and I've heard other Lancers do it so I assume it's priming or the starter?
2. The ignition barrel is a bit loose, the key has to be wobbled and in the right area to start the car. TBH I don't think it's related as I can get the car to crank over but I thought I would mention it (and I also have to fix that if someone could point me int he right direction!).
Any advice or help would be fantastic.
