I have a old RACQ tiny battery in the car atm, i was just wondering what would be the best sort of thing to replace it with. Since i should be on my P's soon, and with running the two amp, i think i should just replace it now, before it dies...

Ill probs go to supercrap cause i can get 25% off, just a century one or something?, also what size would fit my car...

cheers, :)

If you want decent, then get a dry cell - optima, odyssey, orbital. They cost more but they last longer. Your car audio will love it

Re: another nub question... batterys :)

Not sure I'd call a Optima a dry cell, technically they are a sealed lead acid battery with absorbent glass matting which 'holds' the liquid sulfuric acid in between the plates preventing it from spilling out.... A dry cell generally refers to a battery where the electrolyte is a 'near dry' paste.

Your sound system isn't really big enough in terms of power usage that you'll notice much difference with a deep-cycle battery, but the main advantage to paying the extra for something like the Optima Yellowtop is that you can leave the amps running for longer with the ignition off before you fully drain the battery.

Whatever way you go one other improvement is go to an auto elec and ask for him to make up a 0GA or 2GA grounding lead for your battery and remove the stock one...

The two main things to look at with batteries are the CCA (cold cranking amps) which is the amount of sustained current the battery can pull over 30 seconds whilst remaining above 7.2V and the other is Ampere-hours (Ah) which is an indication to the amount of power that the battery stores/holds.

Optima Yellowtop is they way im going, bout $400

Go to JB and bargain hard. Got mine for a lot less than $400.

Dry cell might not be 100% accurate, but was a lot easier to say than telling him to get "a sealed lead acid battery with absorbent glass matting which 'holds' the liquid sulfuric acid in between the plates preventing it from spilling out..."

The Intmidator will be what I buy when mine gives it up finally... my three big amps are frying the battery at the moment.. sub on, it makes the lights flash at idle!!

i have a deka quad bike / cruiser battery in my car... no good if you have a big sound system or stupid anoying alarm.. but weighs half of what a normal battery does
