I couldn’t find a thread mentioning anything about upgrading these boxes so i wanna ask some questions if anyone has done this before.

I want to get another 5spd gearbox and re-condition it, but i’d like to know whats the weakest link, and if adding a straight-cut gear/gears would strengthen it, whats gear need it the most?

Also had some thoughts about installing an Lsd to it, i know rpw have a quaife lsd for it but because its so expensive i’m wondering theres other lsd’s that can fit into the 4g69 gearbox.
 
Your diff and clutch will die wayyyy before any other part of the box, id recommend sticking with a proper HD rated clutch and get the diff if you need it. To answer the question, noone has really upgraded any of the gears because theyre not really known as a weak point. Mitsi know how to make a decent 5sp box
 
Thanks for the info, i’ll have to stick with an n/a setup for a while but i’m in need of a new clutch, so i’ve gone with the acs xtreme semi-organic heavy duty clutch.

Hopefully i can get another gearbox to drop a quaife lsd in, would love to know how a lancer handles with that upgrade.
