2.4L lancer general questions

Hi everyone, theres a few things i’d like to ask about this chassis. My current setup with my 4g69 is, a 2.25” cat-back exhaust, k&n panel filter, and going to throw in a short shifter soon. No ecu tune as of yet

My suspension upgrades are; BR-RA bc racing coils, and a whiteline rear sway bar, with stiffened front and rear engine mounts.

I’m wondering what tyre size for evo 7/8 wheels for them not to scrub, and if i have to run spacers what size would provide a good fitment? If anyone has done this.

I’d also wondering if anyone has done a front brake caliper upgrade with magna/fto/gto/evo calipers, is there an option that doesn’t require fabrication for this?

All of what you’re talking about here has been done and written about before.

225/45r17 on evo 7 or evo 8 wheels is a tidy size that I have used in the past. It scrubbed on the VRX lip at any height, so that needed trimming out of the gate. Spacers will make this worse.

Depending on your height, you will need to roll the guards front and rear. I rolled the lip on the rears of mine, helped a bunch based on my preferred height. Spacers will make this worse.

I also used 215/45r17 on the rear. Looked a little odd due to the tyre width being a bit narrow for the wheel. This will vary with your tyre choice. I had re003 for this and 225.

I now have 235/40r17 AD09 which is an exact diameter match for the factory wheel/tyre. These look A LOT wider than the re003. Haven’t had a chance to check these out at speed for scrubbing.

As for brakes you already have 276mm rotors from factory, which is the same size you want to upgrade to? Your standard brakes are single piston, so maybe you could swap out to the twin piston, but I dont think theres any real advantage as theyre still floating. Personally I’d recommend an upgraded pad and disc combo up front.

You can chase up the 294mm upgrade if you like but that’s a bit rarer.

Evo brakes require fab. GTO/3000GT requires fab. Both are available for purchase, so you dont need to do the fabrication.

Okay, thank you for the reply i did try to find a thread on fitting evo wheels and caliper upgrades but couldnt find one.

If a caliper upgrade is unnecessary whats a good brake pad upgrade? I was looking into getting some dba slotted rotors but i’m struggling to find better pads.

Dba is overpriced. Better off with RDA slotted and dimpled rotors with a decent ceramic pad either remsa or rda phantom ceramic pads, intima pads are also very good but quite expensive
