Riley's CE Coupe 4G94 2.1L Build

re your 10k rpm goal....you might need to do some reprioritizing. Below is table of some important data for you to digest.

I mean I have done literally everything with this motor and haven't skimped on any part to make sure I can get it to go really high, and every part complements the next part. And its not all abt the rods with the 94s either, its also the crank so I've even had that lightened and knife edged to make sure that's not a limiting factor. But yeah I reckon we'll just have ti see what it does in the end

Understand all that. But, outside of the hardware itself that you’ve mentioned, you’ll have to look into oiling too. Oil pump, return from the heads, pcv etc. even clutch engagement etc. there’s heaps of other things to consider when you’re talking that kinda Rpm. Keep researching, keep learning. I’d be out talking to blokes who build sprint car motors for all their hints tips. From everything I know: I know I still don’t know enough.

I really wanna see this spin to 10k reliably.

Yeah me too man

Only things I am doing oil wise is billet oil pump gears, some lower viscosity oil and cleaning out all the oil passages and *poo*ty casting.

And yeah every week that goes by I learn more n more which is great, and im lucky to know some great engine builders n mechanics:)

An issue Honda K series engine run into is cavitation from the oil pump at high rpms.
So that is also something to consider

Im at the last stage now before building the engine. My bearings have arrived at the machine shop and and the clearances will be checked and should be ready to pick up sometime next week, which is fudging amazing. 7.5 months of waiting for this *poo* and having the car sit on the road that long has been so damn agonising and painful. Once I pick up the block, crank n cobrods I can finally start building it which I'm extremely excited for.

I've already built the head and test fitted everything to make sure it all fits, and it does. New seals everywhere and is heavily lubed up.

Once the block is back ill repaint it in the same alloy silver as the head, and will do the same for the gearbox before building that so my engine bay should look a heck of a lot nicer than ur average CE.

Im also in the process of repainting the front and rear bumper, I've just bought a spray gun cause I've gotten rlly good this last year with just spray cans but u can only go so far with them, I could never match the quality of a spray gun so im gonna practice on my cars before respraying others cars for a living. Finished sanding the entire front bumper and added filler to every little dent and nick and will finish up smoothing and sanding everything before painting tmrw

Painted the front bumper yesterday, first time using a spray gun. Im 1000% amazed with the results for my first time, its def gonna be a learning curve for me but I'm happy to keep practising to improve my skills.

I think when I paint the rear bumper ill sand the 1st n 2nd base coats with 800 grit to remove as much orange peel and bumps as possible, as this was an issue I ran into with the front bumper. I tried wet sanding, compounding and polishing the clear today after letting it dry but the orange peel is mostly in the base coat so I can't do much abt that. However there isn't a whole lot of orange peel and for my first job im very surprised with how I went.

Colour match isn't perfect, but I'm not too fussed ass I'll repaint the entire car in the future.

Is that single stage paint? i.e., no clear over the white?
I always thought that orange peel was an issue from applying clear rather than base.
What gun did you use?

Nah nah its not single stage, primer-base-clear
Yeah usually it is tbh, but I'm still in the stages of setting up my gun properly (its a blackridge, nothing special just a middle of the range basic gun) so the base came out a bit lumpy and not very even. The clear turned out pretty nice.

I say the orange peel is from the base bc when trynna wetsand and polish the ckearcoat it doesn't rlly do much, unlike my many other painting jobs, so it tells me its underneath the clear.
