possible new car.

Dont get a starlet gt my friend has one if it brakes u have to import parts to fix it. Too much hassle when broke and still fwd

doesnt bother me im willing to import parts if i have to, same deal with a lot of imports really, i know there are heaps of spare part joints in aus for imports, may not be for starlet gt's but w/e.

its better than a lancer :p and it fits my budget

coz everyone has them.. 180s skylines silvias they all the same its almost like they are the 'commodore' for the jap car scene. thats just my opinion.

its different. its old yeah im aware of that lol. cant be bothered with yet another lancer as its all gone to *poo* for me with my previous 2.

time for something different and uncommon regardless of age/part accessibility.

all i am trying to say is most places don't stock starlet parts as they aint popular and u will have to wait for ur overseas parts to arrive for them.

yeah i do understand that and appreciate your concern :)

all im saying is that if i do end up with this car i am a patient person and willing to wait for stuff if i have to.

Sorry mate, but that's a yuk in my book.

A 20+ year old car like that is going to give you problems.

Y not sil, 180 , or skyline then. As parts for these can be found in the bush

cause they're old and thrashed and done to death. yet, the general public will still love them cause they're afraid to try new things.

and parts will be easy to find. the internet and availbilty of toyota part programs will make finding parts easy.

if your lookin at spending that sort of money why not look at a gsr that just needs a lil love

the one im lookin at is only $5K, the dude doesnt have time or room for it anymore, has full service history on it and everything else you would expect from a well maintained car.

cant find a gsr for that money well not on carsales anyway unless its a CB (yuck). i want something that i can get on the road and drive straight away.

^this

and also my car is only valued at $6K so i have to factor in insurance for the new car in that too as my policy is cancelled (so i dont get any refund on the 6-8 months still left on policy) when i get paid out after a write off. just cars new way of dealing?

car will put in my gfs name for cheap insurance lol

Personally, that thing is ugly as sin, and its pretty old for 5 grand. I vote look for newer 'alternative' jap cars in your area, I know for me that silvias would be considered alternative, almost nobody has any.
Also, most cars have good reasons for being common, ie. parts are cheaper, look the goods, better performance, etc.

I actually dont mind it. I know a very clean Mazda familia going for the same price too if you're interested and they're AWD and hammer - although it's in northern NSW so would be a bit of a mission to get up there.

ive thought about interstate buying but my mrs would kill me even if i mentioned it to her haha.

nsw cars are generally a bit cheaper too so im told. wish i lived up there sometimes due to that :p
