opinions on Cold Air Intakes:

Can’t really say anything bad about them, provided the new cold air intake is functioning better than the factory setup, then yes as it will intake more air and fuel you will make more HP and torque and better MPG.
Make sure you don’t go cheap on the air filter (K/N) or similar quality on, along with reg maintenance of it should be all you need.
You will prob get a bit more intake noise, but not much more then stock as compared to other filters mods .

I run an Injen unit on my 3.0T Audi, and i rate it. Significantly better intake sound than stock due to its metal construction, but at the cost of added heat to the intake air. Silicone pipe is better for heat, but oh so slightly less sound due to its acoustic dampening.

You might be able to get a local fabrication/exhaust shop to get something made up for about a bit cheaper than those prices, without the filter of course. IMO, half the sound comes from a new high-flow filter, and half from the intake piping.

Is it possible for the injen to fit on my lancer even if its meant for the ralliart model? I looked at the instructions for the intake and it appears that the engine bays are the same

From memory, the USA's Ralliart CG-CH is basically the same version as our CG-CH with a sticker or something. It wasnt functionally different, so you should be okay, but dont buy just on my word, wait for another bloke to confirm

That injen kit will work. Ralliart is the USA 2.4L CH
Oz Rally is the 2L CG/CH

bootylicious...The instructions for the kit say that the filter will end up being somewhere in the bumper so i hope its not too different because of the different bumpers :)

Aem also do a cold intake from memory i remember seeing it on sparesbox i believe. Unsure which cold air intake would be the best though mainly to improve performance and fuel economy however the car doesn't get driven very much so am taking the time to check over it, repair and do maintenance here and there and give it some tlc
