lancer CH stock front springs

Hello I have a Lancer CH 2004 ES
I was wondering the size of the front stock strut springs? so I can look for struts with the right ODI

I already bought a new pair of struts but they are 180mm ODI and I don't know where I can get those springs.

Any help is appreciated

These lancer front springs can be confusing, if you measured up and got 180mm OD, than the springs you need are the 144mm ID (some manufactures round it off to 140mm) Front Lancer springs came in 2 sizes (they must have had a batch left over when they finished the CG run and said hey lets mix and match these into the CH series to friggin confuse everyone) so yes two different sizes, 140mm ID and 121mm ID
  • The ones you want are the 180mm OD which are the 144mm ID (rounded off in some cases to the 140mm ID) so on some sites they will list springs as suitable for 180mm OD or 140mm ID (rounded off)
As far as springs go you can get standard height, lowered by aprox +- 30mm or even super lows, just remember that all any replacement springs you are buying for your new struts will be a more heavy duty spring rate (aprox 10-15% higher) than the old lancer spring ever had, in other words it will sit at its height after settling for longer and ride only slightly firmer than the old spring ever did.

My recommendation would be to get the 30mm lower spring, these can be placed on your replacement standard strut no problems being 30mm lower, you will not notice the ride height being much lower than what you probably have now with the standard spring after years of use and abuse, depending on how bad you rear springs have sagged over the years, this may be the best choice all round for comfort/handling/general street appeal.

Example is Pedders have a 30mm lower spring, the part number for this 30mm lowered spring is #2268 to suit (144mm) 140mm ID, priced at around $90-$95 each, you also have Lovell springs and King springs which you can look up on google.
If you ring pedders they will tell you where you front end height that these will sit at with these springs fitted to your car,so you can at least get an idea of height depending on you current wheel size the height will vary, they will give you a measurement from top lip of guard to bottom of rim to measure, that will be ride height aprox.

Thank you very much for your reply.
I accidentally bought the 180mm OD struts on Ebay, They look a bit bigger than the ones I already have on. So I think I made need to look for bigger springs for it. maybe there is a shop nearby to me.

Pedders and the others suspension outlets have the smaller 121 id springs, best to take your struts in nearest pedders and get them to match it up, if you have a real early 04 lancer at model change over than you may have the smaller units, just dart into nearest pedders and all should be revealed.

Great advice,
Whilst seeking replacement FRONT coil springs, either standard height (or preferably raised! (Yes raised height in order to gain some extra vehicle ride height) as I'm preparing my Lancer '04 CH as a Charity Rally Car.
Going against the trend (ie. lowered or super-lowered) springs BUT it appears that both KING Springs & LOVELL's don't manufacture same, but do earlier models? So this leaves me with Pedder's as my only option? shame as I've recently fitted KING springs to the rear.
Update.......
Pedders Maroochydore have come to the party! Locating a pair (well matched 2 right-side coils from an unknown make?) that provide 10~15mm added height, that shall do the trick...... Store Manager Cameron has gone 'above the standard response' to source these goodies.
Grateful CH Owner
