DIY: E4-9 Short shift install

Cheers for the DIY. I fitted my short shifter the other night to my 04 ch. pretty much the exact same process except I had to remove the clips above and below the main ball section to be able to select 1st or 2nd gear.

Few other small problems but there all sorted and its working great.

I've got my standard knob on my UK style short shifter. Fits perfect and tight. That's in my CH vrx

I haven't yet found a aftermarket knob that sits low enough
 
Has anybody with one of these short shifters measured the thread size? They don't have it on the eBay page, and I'd like to buy an aftermarket shift knob to go with it :-D
 
change the plastic cups to the ones from the stock shifter
flathead screwdriver pops them off
 
I put one of these in. The shaft was wobly in the ball pivot thing so I welded it up. I put the pivot point at the top setting and spun the top weight around so it dosnt make the top of the gear boot look stupid. I also have a raised shifter base and had to cut part of it out to make rim for the cables for the setting it's on

Anyone lucky enough to have tried both? Or even just has some specific details on the UK one regarding height and throw reduction, thread size etc?

In being cheaper AND providing adjustability the UK one almost seems too good to be true haha. Loves me the option of some adjustability, and if the quality's up to scratch too it seems like a no brainer.

I put my shifter in today.
Had to swap the plastic cups over, didn't realise there was another screw inside the screw hole.
Thanks to Res for pointing it out :thumbup:

how did you remove the black clips? im having the same issue the black clips stopping me from going into first or second. i tried to spin it around to the other side but still very rough, would rather just remove the fkn thing. iv'e been at it with a pair of pliers and have only managed to bend the tabs
 
Thread revival time, has anybody had any issues with the selector cable fowling in the cradle when you change the setting to go shorter? I couldn't get it to go in the cradle after moving the pivot point up
