Thought I'd post this up, someone is bound to ask sooner or later.

Tools needed:
10mm & 14mm Socket or Spanner.

First of all, Its easier to take it out Reo Bar and all.
Plastic lugs under the boot lid, only hold the bar to the Reo Bar, leave them in(Saves breaking them), there are more lugs under the tail lights too.

Rear Wheel arch bolts.
Either side of the wheel arches you'll have three 10mm bolts, two lower(if you have skirts, possibly one if no skirt) and one up top which is upside down.
Do both sides.
These also have phillips heads fitting, but easier just to use a 10mm as less tools required.

Next, Inside your boot.
You'll have one 14mm bolt either side of your spare wheel well, this is the main bolt holding in your Reo bar.
To the side of it on the rear wall below the tail light push the little cover out of the way, there is a 10mm bolt in there.
Remove both of these each side.

As seen when removed.

On the side walls of your boot, left and right.
There is one more 10mm bolt, once again, sort of hidden behind a little tab thing that pushes out of the way.

When removed, that's what you see.

Finally, give it a little jiggle and it should just slide off.

Obviously reverse of this to put back on...

few questions.

1) for those who dont know, I assume you mean size 14 as in 14mm socket etc?

2) is this the same for the sedan?

1) yes, 14mm ratchet and socket or any other 14mm tool u wish to use /c spanner, ring spanner, altho ratchet is ideal
2)yes both coupe and sedan rear bumpers are the same

And here's me not looking before I do and bash those plastic lugs out from between the bumper and the metal under the lights haha

I hated taking the rear bar of trevs car :problem:
You make this look semi easy, I might try it again following your steps. But in the end I think I just ripped the bar off with the reo

Hey guys/girls, was just wondering if the metal clips that push onto the plastic tabs that go through the reo have a specific name?
A few of them have fallen off my rear bumper and it's sagging a bit now, was wondering what they were called so I can ask for them by name (if they have one).
Have been trying to find a specific rattle that is annoying my and thought it could be the reo vibrating against the inside of the bumper maybe.

Thanks

ARC have you got a DIY thread for side skirts ive been having a look cant find anything

No I don't as yet.
When I install my factory skirts I may do one at that time.
I can see it happening for quite a while yet.... It's way down the list.

Thank god for you Arc and posting this, I've been googling trying to find out exactly how to do this and it finally led me to here. I would have just ending up breaking the plastic plugs between the lights and bumper. Can't thank you enough. I have a MR Lancer Coupe 2000 model and the paint has gone all crackly so I'm going to sand it back and paint it. Thing is I don't know what material the bumper is made of( just plastic by the looks of it) but it doesn't seem to have primer under the paint. It has clearcoat and metallic blue paint than it is just the bumper colour that look's greyish. May I ask you Arc (since you obviously know what your doing) or anyone who may know but shouldn't it have primer under the paint colour?

Most primer is grey-ish. Could also just be plastic primer which is transparent.

Yeah it's not grey primer, but I think your right about the transparent primer. I wasn't aware that that clear primer even existed, thanks.

Also when you take it off it unveil's a little compartment on the driver side, mine has something in it that is loose( no it's not drugs), any idea what what it is or what it is for?

I've been doing all sorts with my car lately and had pieces off here and there, taking back bumper off, painting front hood and spoiler and cleaning the wheels and headlights and putting in new cd player all at the same time so the cars been off the road for a couple of weeks so when all was put back as one piece I drove it to work. So off I went all good until I turned on the blinkers and nothing. So checked fuse- blown. So tested another couple of fuses in it and it seemed to blow when I turned blinker to left. So since I had just installed new cd unit I assumed I had damaged a wire somewhere nearby. So unhooked cd and tested another-blew again. So it wasn't the cd unit. Looked at wires connected to blinkers at the front and pulled out the side ones and all the wire connections looked fine. Gave up. So got an auto electrician to come and figure out what the fark I did. Anybody know what I did?
