so EOYM drags meet was sick, the drive home not so much...
(I have little to no technical knowledge and its going to be 1-2 weeks before I get time to take it to a mechanic to look at it)

Driving down the highway and went to overtake a car when I heard a pipe come off under the bonnet and I lost all power in the acceleration.
Pulled over and popped the bonnet to find that my BOV got blown off the return pipe.
Put it back on and started the car and now the idle bounces between 2k and 500rpm and its shoddy as hell to drive.

I called the donkinator for some troubleshooting tips and checked the following;

Oil - checked the dipstick and levels were fine, popped the cap off the rocker and internals looked fine and oil quality looked fine.
Water - temps were fine from the cabin but when I looked in the over flow bottle the water was practically mud looking.
Piping - all pipes (apart from the BOV) were still attached, no cracks or leaks i could find (PSI boost guage seems to be holding fine while under load)

Throttle seems to still be responsive but idle is still whacked. What I did find odd was at the start of the night I had a blown headlight and when the BOV blew off the headlight started working again so obviously something got hit / knocked.

Had a quick chat with ARC and he recommended cleaning the TB / MAF as a start to see if that makes a difference.

At a bit of a loss guys and would highly appreciate some things to look out for / check.
I have no idea is this is going to be something simple and easy to fix or something were a new engine would be required

theres a few vac hoses off the bov so make sure they're attached. i have a bov delete but one of the vacuum hoses thats meant to go to the bov had a block off on it and doing a second gear launch i blew straight through it and the car ran like a dog. listen for any rushing air and find the source. there will be a leak somewhere

Shouldnt be shooting bovs out like a cannon ces haha
What can I say, go hard or go home! (or in my case, limp home)

Where is the car now can we get someone to have a look?
I managed to get the car home, I should be able to give it a once over on Sunday to see whats going on and if i cant figure out whats going on then I will have to call the cavalry in.

Cheers for the tips guys, I will let you know how it goes

Did a full once over on the car, checked all pipes and everything is fine, no cracks or lose pipes.
Replaced several pipes / joiners to be sure. Can't feel any freeflowing air in the bay.
Still at a loss as to what's going on.

When cold the car will idle around 1500 rpm and gradually creep up to 2k rpm over a few minutes then aggressively drop down to 1k rpm then back up to 2k rpm and will just bounce between 1k and 2k rpm

Could be ECU! Had this happen to me many years ago in a Ausy skyline sailing along at 80 KPH when cut and stopped then restart all OK.

Happened a few times then got worse, then difficulty starting, until finally taking off from traffic lights, green go, amber then red, still trying to get across.

Replaced ECU with reco: unit everything A OK. for the next 14 years.

So finally had a good weekend.
Booked my car in with Lubemobile on Saturday 8AM.
They called me Friday afternoon and cancelled (*wallys*).
On a whim I called up a local shop which opens Saturday till 1PM and took my car down.

They had my car for a few hours and managed to get it going 100%
Crappy / cracked joiners causing vacuum leaks and idle controller was out of whack and needed to be adjusted.

Glad I got a pro to look over it for me as it gives me a piece of mind and the issue is resolved.

Next up, upgrade intercooler piping and new joiners (new better quality stuff) (just pipes and joiners, cooler should be fine as is)
Mechanic pointed out to me that the engine is making some sounds up top which I should get looked at when I get time which im hoping are just the lifters but neverknow.jpg

Just glad its back on the road and sure enough it was what everyone recommended it could be.
Gave me a good lul when the mechanic was offering me prices to sell, but they were top blokes
