Seat Upgrade Info - Evo Recaro, FTO, ect.

I find myself getting overwhelmed by model codes like ce and cc and mr etc etc. Struggling with it a bit, what with lancers and mirages and coupes and sedans and hatches and different year models it's all so god damn confusing haha. But what I think I'll go with is the Proton Satria GTi Recaro seats. I like their look and from what's been discussed here they appear to be a direct bolt on with the exact same functionality, correct? Only difference is the seat belt latches because my car is a ce coupe? So if I can find a proton satria gti at a wreckers I can just unbolt the whole seat and rail from the floor of the car (for each seat), remove the rear seats and the seatbelts and take all that home and it'll all bolt into my ce coupe without much hassle? If this is the case my only concern is the seatbelt incompatibility. What exactly is it that doesn't work and how do I solve it?

If you have the seats and rails it will bolt in.
Its not the seat belts that are incompatible its the piece you clip the seat belt into that needs to be swapped over.
You shouldn't have any problems.

OK, well lets clear the air a little here for you, It'll make a little more sense in a moment.
If anyone picks up anything I've missed, let me know.

CC Lancers were in production from 1991-1995 (some things like seats are cross compatible with the newer CE, but not everything)
CE Lancers & Mirage were in production from 1995-2003.

This thread being in the CE section is more specific to CE Lancers and Mirages.

CE Lancers came in a few different variants for coupe and sedan, GLi base model, GLXi & MR(Top of the line) were the main variants.
There were also some special editions also released such as the Commonwelth Games Edition & VR-X, that were a cross between the basic Lancer and the MR with different options here and there.
And there is the mac daddy Evolution Lancers which are a whole different animal again, but I'm sure most of us are familiar with them ;)

CE Mirages(hatchbacks) only came in two variants, your poverty pack base model and the Mirage VR-X, very close to a CE Lancer MR, excepting for the engine and fog lights.

And just to make things more complicated, in America they call our Lancers a Mirage, In the UK, they call our Mirages a Colt, but the UK Colts are way cooler and have more factory options. :why:

I hope that helped :)

Thank you both. Very helpful. One more question while on this topic if you don't mind. How do you know an mr from a povo ce? Is there something particularly obvious?

Thanks for the tread, lots of info.

Found the thread thanks to Google ;)

Now if it was just this easy to find some good Recaro seats for my CC at a good price :)

There are plenty out there at good prices. Just not plenty of sellers giving them away for less than they're worth.

What is a fare price for some good Recaro seats from an M21 or Satria?
That still have the tilt/slide and auto return like the standard ones in a coupe.
So I know I'm not being taken for a ride.

Looking at $400+ easily for GOOD recaro's (front only), $200 or so for crap ones (front only). And $600+ just for front evo seats easily.

Proton front only going rate is generally 500-700. Evo fronts are generally 700-1500 depending on which ones you get. Bargains popup from time to time but these are the going rates.

maybe it's just me but evo 4 rears have a hard time fitting in the coupe.

you can put them in but i found that the bottoms are too long and have to jam them in + the rounded edges issue.
as for the top rear, didn't even try after measuring the dimensions on the original coupe one vs the evo 4 one.
