Find a wreck with some in good knick, just try not to break the clips when removing.
Or if you can't find any in a good condition, still try remove it without breaking clips and get the rest of the black stuff off so it's all chrome and spray paint it.

if it was secured firmly still, i'd mask up the paint work, use a razor to remove as much of the black plastic over lay, sand it, and spray with some roll bar black or similar. export $2 cans are a no no. $15-20 for something decent will be the best.

Yeah a vrx one is the go if you can get hold of one. Cupholders and console lid arnt standard either.
Mirages iam pretty sure ps was optional ive seen all year models with /without it.
Also to note if you get a non vrx and install power windows black interior etc etc ya all good up to the doors but then after that youll pretty much have to paint all the plastics from the door back black to match because there rare as all *fudge* , I think ive seen prob one vrx mirage wrecking in the last few years.
I think 99 model plus has mr dash looms (prob same as coupe) so that makes plug n play other things easier but not hard to sort out if its a earlier model.

I paid 3k for mine too with 6 months rego , trondas is better nick then mine he got a very good deal.
