New Headlights

Hey guys,

I am looking at changing my headlights as they are terrible. I sometimes wonder if they are on as they don't light up the road very well at all.

My mate has these in his ford BA, however he didn't get them from Ebay.

Autobarn said they can hook me up $300 later plus $80 labor.

I'd rather do it myself, and pay less for the globes themselves as he paid about 120-170.

Does anyone know where i can get the above lights or something similar form a store in Melbourne?

putting hid's into reflector headlights is a very bad idea, firstly it doesn't control the beam so the light will blind all oncoming traffic and secondly it will turn the plastic headlights yellow in time. to do it properly you need to purchase a projector hid which is a much better solution but will be more pricey. you can buy very high quality kits from theretrofitsource.com and they're heaps bright at night

*edit* oh and hid's are illegal so putting them into reflectors is basically screaming out defect me to every single cop you pass

You can't run HIDs unless you have projectors. The light will spread in all directions and blind other road users, plus you will get defected. If you need more light, either do a projector retrofit or grab from 2x light bulbs from eBay like philips diamond vision or crystal vision. There's also xtreme vision for 2x light than regular bulbs.

If you have projectors already, then the eBay kits are your cheapest option, and no you won't find them in store for that kind of price.

Thanks.

Ahh damn, yeh thought as much. He has had them for 2years or so and never been pulled up but id rather not have the hassle as i don't wanna then get a whole look over my car. and he did mention his cover is getting yellow.

Can you guys suggest anything specific which will get a nice white bright light. If i have to spend $300 odd i'm fine with that as long as its legal and gets good results. I could probably install myself so will save autobarn doing it for $80.

I really don't trust the guys at autobarn for advice on any topic...
