Hey guys (and girls)

New to the lancer scene currently looking to buy my first lancer (I've had Jeeps previously, they don't agree with my driving style )
Anything in particular I should be wary of or lookin for? I'll only be spending around 3000-3500 on it atm

Thanks in advance

Hey,

For that price range you could pick up a CE Lancer MR coupe or CE Lancer VRX (or GLXi?) sedan.
The MR model in the coupe came with all the bells and whistles (power windows, 1.8l engine etc...) as it was the top of the line model in the coupe for Aus but i cant remember the spec details on the sedan as they didnt have an MR model.

They are a fairly common car so places like car sales have oodles of choices. Try and aim for the 1.8L model (4g93) as that seems to be the fans top pick and power windows are my personal requirement. apart from that there arnt too many differences between the models.

Most of the parts are cross compatible so if your good with a spanner, swapping OEM parts is super easy

What happened with the jeep?
Heaps out there just make sure the car doesnt make any funny noises, blow smoke etc pretty much the basic stuff.

CH is doable for about 4 if you want a clean car. 3 might get you a crappie body/high ks. Can vouch tho - great cars

For the budget you can get a really good CE or an Ok CH/CH

As Ces said, your best bet would be an MR coupe or GLXi Sedan. Those models are plentiful in both auto and manual if you have a preference

Actually, i have heard lots of people say that the early 97-98 MR lancers were well known for roof rust so check out the paint work and look for rust spots or bubbles in the paint, people have told me that it could of been related to contamination in the base from the factory but thats only rumour

It was the roof glue. They didn't change it after the CC's so series 1 CE's still had it as a common issue
