Horn troubles

My horn does not work.
I have taken the horns off and applied power directly to both and both sound.
I have checked continuity between the contacts and base-plate on the steering wheels which is fine (1 ohm normal .12 ohm with contact pressed) I assume this indicated the clock spring is also fine?
Checked fuse in engine bay which is fine.
Only thing i can think is the relay but that depends on how its wired.
Does it go from battery to fuse to steering wheel to relay to horn? In which case it would be the relay

There is a diagram here:

I've just been through this on my mirage, Mine was actually wired incorrectly from factory, there are 2 white wires with blue tracers at the relay, which they had mixed up. Any resistance normally indicates an open circuit. A closed circuit should indicate no resistance.

Check to see if the relay clicks when you are pressing the horn. If it doesn't, that would indicate either a broken relay (just swap another on in the fuse box to test) or a broken wire between the horn button and pin 1 on the relay, with the horm button pressed. There is a wire at the back of the clock spring that has a bullet connection about 30cm from the clock spring, check that connection is good.

where is the relay located? everyone says the fuse box in the engine bay but i only have the fuse and no horn relay. its a gli model. i dont think any of my lancers have had a horn relay in that box pnly the fuse. even the service manual show no relay there.

The wiring is always there, it just isn't being utilised. I was a little confused as if there is a clockspring and airbag in the car, the horn wiring would use a relay.

In that case, try taking off your wiper stalk and see if the wire is connected to the pin. You'll see what I mean. Failing that, you need to check for continuity between the -ve wire at the horn and the horn button/wire at the steering wheel.

OK so I look behind the steering wheel and noticed that the metal pin is no longer in contact with the base of the wheel. Can this be replaced or do I need to replace the whole stalk unit? Plus it looks kinda bent to me as well. If I push on the plate behind the steering wheel I can get it to make contact. Or can I just put a whole crap load of die electric grease on it? That pin is spring loaded. If it's broken, just get one from the wreckers. 4 screws takes the whole boss off, then you can unscrew the wiper and indicator stalk, should only cost you a few bucks.

just wondering if you ended up repairing it or replacing it, i converted my srs airbag steering wheel to an aftermarket one and it's missing that metal pin. i want to know if the transfer process is hard or if i could easily do it in a day
